    Some hints for July 2013

tomorrow is the start of new financial year and prime time for changes - there's gonna be a whole lot of "stuff" going on with FAO - school kids bonus, bulk reco etc, additional payments for carers etc - so call demand is going to be HIGH, consultants will be under the pump, so i thought i'd just give a couple of bits of info to help people

firstly, carer supplements - will be paid with your first carer allowance/payment installment after 3rd July

secondly, school kids bonus - if you are entitled to ftba AND receiving your ftb in fortnightly installments, AND your child is at the correct age for school kids bonus (as of TODAY, June 30, 2013), your payment will be processed with your ftb payment after 3rd July

Bulk reco - if you are single, and have been on income support for the whole financial year, you will go through bulk reco process - generally this will occur with your second payment in July (i dont know the exact timing at this point - but from previous years, it would be any time from the 17th of july through to the end of the month - ISH!)

    Non-lodger updates
    - if you are not required to lodge a tax return, you can notify this online. if you are SINGLE and been on income support all year, you DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING!
    - if you lodge online, be aware that many of these updates do not go through automatically - if the update will trigger reconcilliation, it will halt for a consultant to check it. if you have estimated an amount and your actual income was significantly less, it will halt for someone to check it.

the thread below has some more info about the reco process. i have simply put it here to mostly let people know that all of c'link is very busy all the time, but the next month is going to be insane. check your online services to see if you've been paid. remember if it's going in with your payment it won't show up until TWO DAYS before your payment will be hitting your account. checking and calling up several days early won't help!

oh, and there will be no payment summaries automatically issued this year for income support customers!
your payment details will automatically prefill to the ato. if you want a paper copy, you can request it using online services.

If you don't receive FTP fortnightly, but instead in a lump sum at the end are you still entitled to the school bonus (if you qualify obviously)

Hey bg - I've been on ppp all year and dh has been on austudy - I know you said single people don't have to do anything but do we still have to notify them that we don't have any tax return to lodge?

yes, if you get ftba, you get school kids bonus, but it will be paid at tax time if your ftb is paid at tax time

yup - you'll need to notify that you're not required to lodge. you can do it online. not sure if it will show on online services how much ppp and austudy you received or whether you'll need to request a payment summary to print at home (which you won't have to print, but you'll be able to see the dollar amounts)

If applying for partner / dad pay during July will that process still go through quickly ? How long does it normally take to receive the money once the form has been lodged ?

Processing times shouldn't get any longer but they definitely won't be reducing at this time of year.

If ppl was paid by fao directly you'll need to go online to print your payment summary. No payment summaries are being issued at all unless requested due to the auto fill system

Once again BG you rock!!! Thanks for the info!!

Just to refresh my memory: if you claim everything at the EOFY you wait until you get your notice of assessment from the ATO then lodge the lump sum claim form online. Is that right?

I can't either so there must be so many people trying. I have tried on and off today, and managed to actually get on and view a online letter, but as for advising of non-lodgement, it just says it is currently unavailable.

At the moment the volume of people logging on to notify they don't need to do a tax return is huuuuuuge! By 9am on Monday there were already several thousand people who had updated online. And it just keeps getting more. If you have business to do like estimate, check payment etc, the app is handling the traffic very well but you can't do the non lodgement advice on the app

Living. You can lodge the lump sum claim any time now. As long as it is lodged by June 30 next year. You don't have to have done your taxes first. However you do need to lodge your taxes by June 30 or you won't get the payment s (you used to have two years to do it all, you now only have one!)

Is this a new thing? I tried to claim the lump sum and got knocked back on the basis our tax return hadn't been finalised.

Does that mean that I can now claim our FTB lump sum for 2012/13 FYI even though our tax is with the accountant?
