    Blood types

I was just wondering if you knew your kids' blood types?

I don't know any of mine (though they have all had the heel ***** test and another blood test for thryoid done at 5 days). No other blood tests though. DD was in the NICU for 8 hours following birth, so I guess they might have done something there but I wasn't told.

When and why did you find out your kids blood types?

They wrote my kids blood type in the little state government book they give you when baby is born. I think it was from heel ***** test.

the heel ***** test aka newborn screen won't give you a blood type.
the only time it is routinly done is if mum is a negative blood group so they can check if bub is positive or not.

I know what DD1's is but not the other two. Found out hers because she had significant gut issue after birth and it was part of the testing that was done.

Mine will all be A+ because DH and I share a blood type Nice and easy to remember

I never knew mine until I started donating blood, so I assume my parents didn't know either.

I didn't think they could be negative if both parents are positive? I'd actually forgotten to factor in O so I've been thinking wrong for quite a while - whoops!

I was thinking about this the other day. All those bloods DD had, I should have asked to get it checked! My kids could be (almost) any blood group. DH is B+ (he thinks) and I'm AB+

Both mine are O-, same as me. Found out because of the rhesus negative business.

Just make sure you tell your kids the correct blood type if they ask-my mother has always told me I was A+ so I have spent years quoting my blood type as A+. When I got my bloods done at the start of this pg they tested for blood type and I found out that I am actually O+ not A!
