Just make sure you tell your kids the correct blood type if they ask-my mother has always told me I was A+ so I have spent years quoting my blood type as A+. When I got my bloods done at the start of this pg they tested for blood type and I found out that I am actually O+ not A!

I didn't think they could be negative if both parents are positive? I'd actually forgotten to factor in O so I've been thinking wrong for quite a while - whoops!

Lol, my mum assumed I would be A+ as my mum and dad are both A+.... but I am A- We too were surprised... The -/+ gene is separate to the A/B/O gene...

All that being said, I have a friend who found out in their 20s that their dad wasn't their dad, because they donated blood and that was the first time they found out what their blood type was ... the parents had no idea (though surely the mother had wondered from time to time ... ?)

Let's not do that!

=( I have had a very awkward conversation with a young dad re that exact thing... he was 100% he was neg. the mum was neg and her baby was pos. was a horrible conversation, he pulled me aside privately to ask about it because he realised it wasn't possible. I just said I really think he needs to talk to his gf.

My son was tested because of rhesus risk. He's B- and I am O-. Thought he was in the clear but he actually got jaundice from the ABO mismatch. (It's not inevitable, but some O mothers are capable of producing antibodies that attack A or B blood in the baby, it just is milder than the rhesus issue.)

My husband is AB+ so our children will be A or B, + or -. Lots of options.

I'm O- . I have 1 A+ child and 1 O+ child. 3rd child they refused to test so I don't know.

I am B- and my Ob was explaining the needles I had to have in case bub was positive. I asked if DH could be tested and we could figure it out from there. He said he didn't do that and hadn't for years as he had a patient and Husband who they tested and then the bub was a blood group which wasn't possible from their blood types so he doesn't do it any more.

My DD is B- like me and DS is B+, we don't know what DH is as he hasn't been tested.

My mum is A- my dad O+ I'm O+ my mother wasn't given rhesus needles so my younger sister was stillborn at term so from that I'm guessing my brother born after her is a negative blood type

My mum is O- and my Dad is A+ and coincidentally I am O- and DH is A+
DD is A-

When I was born my grandfather, who was a GP, said that Mum didn't need to have AntiD because although he didn't know what blood group Dad was he knew that he and Granny were both negative.....lucky I was neg anyway...Dad believes the "genetic throwback" theory
