I don't think a fox is likely to attack your children. They're generally quite timid round humans.
We have a fox that lives under our back shed. There's dig holes in the lawn where it's obviously been having a great time. It's killed DS' soccer ball and tore the tennis ball off the kids pogo tennis set.
It's getting more and more adventurous and I'm not sure if we should do anything about it. It has only come out in daylight a few times. The first time DS thought it was a dog lol.
But I know absolutely nothing about foxes. Should I be concerned its going to attack the kids?
What is it with me and animals?

See. Now you can laugh at me :P
It won't attack your kids.
Because they attack native wildlife, you're probably best to call the council and have them trap it.
We have foxes around at the moment as well. We have chickens (and we are not rural), that is our concern.
Growing up we used to get the 'fox hunter' in to shoot them, were rural and had chickens and other animals to consider. They do not attack humans, just wildlife. You could ask the council if they have a dedicated 'fox hunter' that will catch and re home the fox.
Note to self google first so you don't look like a nuff nuff :P
Yeah that's what I was thinking too Tinks... What impact it was having on the wildlife.
My DH won't let us get chickens because of the potential fox issues. Sad. I love the idea of chickens.
Mock away :P
Yeah it's the reason we don't have chickens.
We used to have a fox that came and slept on our back doormat under the carport when I was a kid. That was in Mount Eliza. We always had foxes coming and going, and never had an issue with either our pets or us. The only place they were a problem was on the farm, they used to get to the chooks.
If you are worried about the wildlife, I'd call the local ranger.
Then again, given where you live, I would think they may not be much they can do but relocate it and hope it doesn't come back again...?
My DH is a sporting shooter and he also suggested you ring the councilThey have access to trappers and would be able to take care of it for you.
They are an introduced, feral species, it won't be relocated. Call the local council. My brother works for National Parks and Wildlife. They shoot and bait but baits won't be appropriate in built up areas.
It won't be relocated. They are a pest. It will be trapped and killed.
We live in the country (in town though) and have no foxes ever. You get them out further though.

We've had foxes, and one very badly attacked my MILs cat to the point it was permanently damaged and almost died.
It is unusual but not unheard of for them to attack people and if I ever had little people at my place (as I clearly do) I would call the ranger.
They definitely won't relocate a fox. They're a nuisance and will be destroyed.
