    Gentle baby wipes recommendation needed

Bub has a nasty nappy rash. At home, we use water to clean him. I need wipes for when we're out and about. I've tried both Huggies and Gaia wipes & both made his bum sore. Can anyone recommend something gentler?

You could use a portable wipes container and fill it with face washers or some cloth wipes to just wet with warm water when out.

I found the Huggies Pure wipes were a bit gentler than the normal Huggies wipes - other than that when DS had really bad nappy rash I would get a zip lock bag and place nappy liners in it (kind of like chux wipes) and then wet them whilst out an about. I always have a bottle of water with me so if there isn't a tap to use warm water then I have my bottled water to use

When DS1 gets really sore I just cut up something from the rag bag into little squares, wet them and put them in a zip-lock bag. Easy!

You could use a water bottle and chux style cloths and put some water on the wipe, use then throw out. I know you can get big rolls of them and I think they are cheap enough to be disposable

I use a Tupperware sandwich keeper - five or so wipes fit in there nicely, folded in quarters. It becomes part of our getting ready to leave routine - nappies, tote bag, wipes. Pre-wet and folded, into the container.

Likewise when we get home - tote bag out, empty nappies into bucket, empty unused wipes into bucket, leave container to air dry. No mould, no dramas. Too easy.

ETA - just in case it wasn't clear - I only wet them with water. I have some Itty Bitty and some Motherease (maybe) cloth wipes.

I use either wotnot or naty by nature care. As long as I only use them a couple of times they are fine.

My SIL never used wipes. She just used a washer.

There are also "recipes" on the interwebz for homemade wipes.

L&B I take dry cloths out and wet them with water from my water bottle. I like the Swaggers ones but the Pea Pods are even softer but over twice the price of the swaggers ones. We have a mix of both.
DD also had nappy rash so I'm using disposable cotton makeup wipes with olive oil or MooGoo MSM cause its far more gentle than anything else for cleaning her sore bottom.

The naty ones seem ok. But wet wipes in a ziplock bag are a go to. Hope his bum is better

Have you tried some nappy free time too?

Pre moistened (water only) Chux cloths in a ziplock bag here too. They just go into the wash with the cloth nappies and can be reused a dozen or more times. The cheaper branded ones start to 'fluff' after one or two washes, so though they're one third the price, the expensive ones work out far cheaper. They dry much quicker than washers and I found them softer for DS. I use them for face cloths too, but a different colour!

I only found one brand of alcohol free disposable wipes that didn't irritate DS (not an expensive Eco brand) but they don't seem to make them anymore

Yep I also carried dry cloths and wet them or pre-wet ones.
For my DS's nappy rash soaking the wipes in cammomile tea with a teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of olive oil really helped.

    Good luck!

I also found that, their bums coped much better if I only used wipes when they have done a poo, or if skin seemed moist - if skin dry like it usually was because moisture all absorbed in nappy - then I didn't use a wipe just changed the nappy. We had very few nappy rash issues with either child. I thought only using a wipe for a poo was the normal thing to do (maybe it is??) until friend said should be wiping every time. Anyway I never saw the point of getting delicate skin damp unless necessary - and it seemed to work for us.

I always applied almond oil with a few drops of chamomile oil at nappy changes. Any poo just "slicked" off with a wet washer. The chamomile helped prevent rashes. Last baby didn't have a single rash ever.

Curash wipes are the only bought wipes my kids don't have a sore bottom with. Plenty of nappy free time will help his little bottom heal to, I like to use sudocream also when they get red
