My mum and I went to Ikea today. We were out all day 8-4 with a few hours in the car and the rest walking the halls of Ikea. As I got out of the car I really struggled- my pelvis is super sore and achy, extending into my lower back and upper inner thighs. Have I just done too much? I'm 19+4 and reasonably active daily ( two small boys and I teach) Should I just take panadol? It's very uncomfy, borderline painful, especially walking!
panadol will help, but more than that ice is the remedy you should be turning to. Ice your pelvis for 20 minutes at a time after a big day and it will reduce the inflammation that is causing the pain. Hope you feel better soon
It sounds like my spd pain - same areas, similar trigger.
I found out far too late, that to support my pelvic muscles I should have been using pelvic floor exercises when moving. So tensing and holding my pelvic floor before going from sitting to standing, before lying down/ getting up etc. Any time I shifted my weight.
I was also told to ice my pubic bone to reduce inflamation.
These 2 things made the biggest difference to my level of pain.
Hope this makes sense. Words are failing me tonight. Sorry.
Amaunet I had that kind of pain with DD and this time around, a month or so ago. For me it is a definite sign I've pushed things too far physically as I'd get it after an active/busy day with my toddler, if I had been rushing around or even walking too fast.
Just updating! Things are getting worse, much worse
We drove out to the bush this weekend for my nephews christening (6 hours in the car), by the time I took over the driving at the 3 hour mark, I was struggling to move my foot from the accelerator to the brake and back again By the time we arrived I could barely walk and I limped, shuffled, hobbled all weekend. I felt marginally better this morning (after laying down for 8 hours!) but then even sitting on a hard chair made it bad again. the drive home was rough, I tried keeping my weight on my hip and DH did most of the driving but I'm in a bad way I have a GP appt for the morning to get a Physio referral and hopefully can get an appt soon - I've taken the day off - there's no way I can teach in my current state! I'll call my OB tomorrow too, but I'm assuming that a Physio is what I need?
I'm only 20 weeks... This can't be good newes for the rest of my pregnancy! And it's not like I can rest with two very active small boys and a hubby who leaves at 6.30am an gets home somewhere between 7.30 and 9.30pm!
i am having similar issues and saw a physio on friday. when she held my hips on either side, i could lift my leg off the bed quite a distance, without her support i could barely get it off the bed. It demonstrated to me how some compression garment or wrap could help. She did some massage that helped the muscles that were tight due to trying to compensate. I go back next week again.
Definately see the physio.
I wish I had done it much sooner she helped so much. Just teaching me how to move without aggravating it was incredibly helpful.
I hope it is for you too.
Turns out I have a bulging disc in my back! It's referring pain to my pelvis. I had this issue at the end of my last pregnancy after I fell over and it was bad post birth as well. So I'm essentially on bed rest (no sitting/standing/walking) for the rest of the week with exercises to do! Not sure how I'll go resting with two small boys but they have today and tomorrow at daycare so hopefully once the inflammation subsides it will be better!
