    Thumb sucking 2 year old

Any tips on getting her to kick the habit? Is it ok at this age or better to stop now if possible?

I used sports tape on my DD's thumb at age 2 to stop her, she couldn't get the tape off, it was hard for a few days but t worked!

I would try and stop it as quickly as possible. I used to suck my thumb and ended up with 4 years of braces and 2 of a plate as I had moved my front teeth.

My Mum used the stuff you paint on nails that tastes disgusting. Also it was in winter, so she also put gloves on me to make it harder to get to my thumb.

I think your dentist is right NicNac, my DD 4.5 still sucks hers, have tried plasters making it taste bad, gloves but nothing lasts. I am just working on reducing the time, so only at bed time and in the car etc. The thumb doesn't stay in when she sleeps, it drops out. Not everyone who sucks their thumb has teeth issues (my sister didn't and dentist wasn't concerned at last check up) so I am taking a what will be will be approach.
