Oral thrush in newborn - What do I need to do?

DS2 (12 days old) has oral thrush He's started nilstat and I've got Canisten cream.

What do I need to do to stop it reinfecting us? My thoughts:

No nappy rash yet, but I've heard it can cause nappy rash - should I strip wash his MCN's, just in case? Should I use sposies til it clears?

Should I use disposable breast pads til it clears? If I use cloth, will the Canisten cream affect them?

Anything else I need to do?

See your GP about dactaran, for your nipples. Apply it after a feed and there is no need to wash it off.

you can get the daktarin oral gel over the counter at the chemist, you can put it on before feeds so bub gets some if he has the thrush in his mouth and keep it up a few more days after symptoms clear up. You can also meant to rub the gel in the baby's mouth 4 times a day

Thanks - the chemist said they don't give the gel to babies this young as there's a risk of choking.

What about strip washing his MCN's and whether the cream will affect my cloth breast pads? Anyone?

My baby was only a few weeks older when he was on it, it comes with a spoon but I just put a bit on my finger and put it on the areas I could see in his mouth, I did see the gp though and she said it was fine, can't help you with the nappies sorry

Seems like lots of people used the gel...will see the GP if it doesn't clear with the Nilstat.
