Is this normal, or should I be concerned?

DD has her second cold at the moment, she is almost 9 months old and is on day 3 of this cold. This time it is much different though. She has a very husky, wheezy cough. Not constant, but at least every hour or so. Last night she woke almost every hour until 3am because she was so blocked up. This morning when she woke she had so much dry, green snot covering her nose that her nostrils were completely blocked. I had to use a warm face washer to 'dissolve' it She just seems so much worse. Last time I went to the GP she had been sick for 3 weeks and the doctor said there was nothing they could give her and to just ride it out. But I feel so bad for her I know how awful I feel when I'm sick (because I have caught her cold now too) but I can just take cold and flu tablets. She has nothing but a vapouriser.
Does this sound like a 'normal' cold for a bub so little? What should I do?

    Poor thing.

If you're concerned, take her to the dr.

Poor little bubba. Them getting sick and not been able to do anything for them is the pitts.

I agree with Tinks, if you are concerned, a visit with your GP wont hurt (well it might if they are like mine and never run remotely close to appointment time). If your sick too, then lots of cuddles and rest for you both. Have a few hot steamy showers together to get the snot moving. Lay her over your lap belly down and pat her back to help break it up too.

I hope your both better soon.

The snot on her face sounds pretty normal to me but it's probably worth having the wheezy cough checked out.

steamy showers or baths are great for desnotting (wet and dry). also good for cranky or tired kids.

A naturopath would be able to mix some herbs that'd help her heal. My DD and i are on some liquid herbs at the mo- same mix just different doses.

Also using Fess and a good snot sucker can help to remove the snot deeper down too

Thanks everyone, I keep posting when she's sick cos I'm freaking out! But she did much better last night, slept all night and looked much better this morning. She is still snotty and has a cough, but if it gets any worse or if the cough doesn't clear up I will take her to the gp.
Frangipani lou, I have some fess, but a few seconds after I suck it's just dribbling out again anyway! Might look into a naturopath, when I can afford it lol

Better to get some snot out than none I recon! Perhaps try repeating the process to get even more out.
