    Doctors visit with no medicare card?

    LO is only brand new but we need to go to the docs tomorrow. Don't have a medicare card yet - does anyone know how this works?

    i had to pay full, and then got fees back from Medicare.

    It depends a bit on how the Dr wants to do it. I've had it billed as if it were me visiting the Dr and I've also had to pay in full and then get it back from medicare after the card/number etc has been issued.

    Ive been told to do the appointment and then contact them with the new number when we got it.

    Thanks ladies... Ended up paying the Medicare amount and then will take and claim when card comes through. Funny how there isn't a consistent system in place given how many babies would need to go to the dr before they get their card.

    My Dr just used my card and put down the number they assumed it would be when reissued. It was fine.
