    Endometriosis introduction

This is my first post on the forum

My partner and I have been trying for 2 years. I have has irregular periods in what seems forever (actually probably is). I also have a underactive thyroid. I am 35 so obviously have no more time to waste.

Along with my irregular cycles I suffer from major period pain where it gets that bad some months I vomit etc etc.

My dr sent me for a ultrasound and it came back I have not got polystic ovaries. So now I booked myself into a specialist as there is talk of maybe having endometriosis.
I was just hoping to gain to some stories of your journey's with specialist and to see what happens and the procedures you all are taking.
I would also love to hear your stories of your cycles and what it has done to your boy before going to a specialist

I have discussed the possibility of just going on the pill and to forget about it all, but I know I will regret it and I have always wanted a child.

    Re: Endometriosis introduction

Hi, welcome to BB. I was diagnosed with endometriosis a couple of years back while TTC for a number of years. I ended up having to go on medication which was an implant in my stomach injected every month for 6 months while I waited for surgery. I had a laparoscopy done to remove the endo and it made a huge difference to my periods which had always been extremely painful. I went ahead with IVF the following month (other male factor issues as well) and after 2 cycles I fell pregnant and now have a son turning 1 in 2 weeks.
It was a long and hard journey but one I would do again if I had to in a heartbeat as it was all worth it once I had my beautiful boy in my arms.

    Good luck!

    Re: Endometriosis introduction

i was early 20 when diagnosed. I had regular periods. Only found out something was up as I fell off a chair which in turn twisted a large cyst I didn't know I had. Had a lapraoscopy and was told I would probably never have children, it was so bad. They actually wanted to give me a full hysterectomy at that stage. I refused. I did an implant in the stomach for 6 mths post surgery. I was fortunate and fell pregnant pretty easily. After my first child was born I had abnormal spotting. I knew I wanted another child so when back to my surgeon. I walked in and said "Hey look this is the child you told me I'd never have". I had a 2nd lapraoscopy to remove build up and it took about 5mths (3mths of active trying) to fall pregnant. My third pregnancy was very much a surprise. We did the deed on the last day of my period. 8 months later our third child was born.

    Good luck.

    Re: Endometriosis introduction

    Hi MMD80, welcome to BB.

    I have lived with/suffered through/screamed at/cried about endometriosis since I was 16. I have 2 children and am currently ttc #3.

I have had 3 miscarriages and 4 surgeries. I had major relief after all of my surgeries, and I think they helped me to conceive and carry my babies well.

I HATE endo. It messes with your life and your livelihood.

I am by no means an expert, but am here for support, as are the rest of us, because we know, really KNOW, how it feels.

I found over the years, the only relief I got from my symptoms was the Mirena.
Since having that removed for ttc, I have pretty much regretted it.

I wish you all the best and remember, we are here for you!
