I have never really had bad period pain in the past, but last night I woke up in excruciating pain in my lower abdonmen which made me really nauseas. Also yesterday I had bad PMS and felt depressed.
I today got my period and am still in pain when I move around alot but not as bad as last night. Last month I went for an internal ultrasound after having my second m/c. The lady doing the ultrasound said my ovary or tube was larger than normal.
Could this mean I have endometriosis or a cycst on my ovary? Can you get endometriosis if you have been pregnant before because I have only read that women usually get it if they have infertility problems?
I am due to go back to my specialist in 2 weeks to get the test results (I had a blood test too) but just wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else or any advice would be great.
So sorry to hear about your m/c's. I think it is a good idea getting a few tests done to see if there is something that can be done to help prevent them.
That period pain sounds really awful, and so does the nausea. That is certainly a symptom of endo, but really the only way to tell if you have endo is to do a laparoscopy - where they have a look inside while you are under anaesthestic. (I think you can still have it, even if you have been pregnant before - someone correct me if I am wrong!).
I have heard of people having enlarged ovaries - often women can have enlarged ovaries if they have PCOS. But I think it is best to wait until you get more results from doctors before getting too worried about things.
My advice would just be to try and be as healthy as possible (diet + exercise) until you find out if there is anything wrong, and then you can look into specific treatments if there is something wrong. Don't be afraid to see a counsellor if you feel you need it - losing 3 little ones is really tough.
My specialist did mention that I could have a laparoscopy if we choose to, so with these pains I am thinking the answer is probably to go ahead & have one done to see what the hell is going on!
Yes my partner had a blood test also, so we'll see what the test results say.
I wouldn't jump to any conclusions. I have endometriosis and have been pregnant twice (once IVF, once naturally),but one episode of very bad period pain is probably more likely to do with your body recovering from the m/c rather than endometriosis. I would ask the specialist re. the ovary, or tube being larger than normal to see if it needs to be looked into further, but it may be nothing to worry about. Sorry to hear of your loss.
hi Apes23
Cant really tell you whats going on with you hopefully doc s sort it out soon for you. i just wanted to say i've been through similar thing and my advice do the laparoscopy i had one about 9 months ago because of being in lots pain and terrible periods was great to finally have a answer i think that when you are in so much pain and you dont have a reason why it makes it makes it harder to deal with and is so emotionally draining!
