    Rpa Ivf

    Hi Everyone

I was wondering if anyone is going through Royal Prince Alfred Hospital IVF Clinic. I have been told about them and have made an appointment there next month but was hoping to hear so either good or bad gossip about them.

Hoping you can help. This is all such a big decision. How did you make your decision to go with the clinic you are with? And why is there such a HUGE difference in the prices of the different clinics?

O.K Now I am concerned there hasn't been a good or a bad response about RPA Fertlity Clinic? Is there no one going there or people are just being nice and it is really bad and no one is telling me?

It's more than likely the case that nobody has used the IVF unit at RPA. Until I read your post and did some googling, I didn't even know there was one!

I haven't been able to find out much, as they are the only IVF unit in Sydney that doesn't have a web page, but I read a reference that they are fairly closely tied in with Sydney IVF.

I don't think you're going to be looking at it being a bad clinic.

Hope this helps some towards putting your mind at rest.

    Hi Rufalina

I have been doing some more looking around and as BW said the Doctor I have an appointment with is with SIVF. I also talked to my Obs/Gyno to get the referal and a copy of all the tests that I have had done and he is affliated with SIVF as well and he said it is a good clinic with some of the best sucess rates at the moment.

I rang up and made an appointment I could of got one 3 days after I rang up but they wanted both me and my DH so I have made it for when we are both on Hols at the end of July. I enquired about the cost and was told IVF was $1168.00 plus the medications with no day surgery costs. (this comes down after you claim your out of pocket expenses and medicare stuff). I also enquired if there is a wait list to get onto the program she said it was about 4-6 weeks only.

That is all the information I have at the moment but.
Will let you know what they were like after going there...

Racey, I'm glad to see that you're a bit more relaxed about things now.

Choosing a doctor or a clinic for IVF is really stressful... I guess that it really comes down to needing to trust that your doctor is going to send you to someone that they respect and trust and that really counts for something. I was lucky with mine - not only was he the only person my GP wanted to send me to, he'd also sent a friend to him as well. In the end, my friend didn't have such a great experience with him, but someone else that I met through BB had a wonderful experience... and the treatment for both friends of mine was successful. I guess I can say that mine was too, now.

Anyway, enough babble from me. I'm really glad that I could help out a little, and so happy to see that you are much more at peace with the doctor and clinic you are being sent to. Best of luck for the time ahead!

    Hi Racey,

I used to post on this forum and decided that i should let you know that i am now pg because of RPA Fertility clinic. They are excellent and so is your doctor. Dont worry if no one has posted about it as only a handful at a time get through to them.

I am having twins on my first attempt - so anything is poss. If you want any extra info let me know so i can give you my private email address and i am happy to give you a few phone numbers and names. My friend is a nurse at the hospital as a midwife and she recommended that i go through them as it was the cheapest and best option. Everything that is done at Sydney IVF is done at the hospital and SIVF looks after everything for the hospital anyway.

I would love to help you out as i didnt really have that much info before i started there. If you need anything just let me know.

You are in very good hands - we might have even passed each other in the hallway!!

    Good luck anyway oxoxoxox Gina

    Hi Missy,

Thanks for your congratulations. It is so great to hear another success on the first cycle. It is fab that you have a beautiful baby!! I am expecting identical twin boys. Everyone says how cute or double trouble! Ha ha ha!! I hope that everyone can have the same success as we have. I have posted in the Woo Hoo room and everyone here has been supportive and great. Keep in touch.

    xoxoxox Gina

PS: RPA dont charge as much if you go through the hospital instead of sydney ivf.

    HI Racey
I have a few friends who have been through RPA ...some successful another not ... they are only cheaper because not for profit but a very good clinic.

My twins were IVF too Westmead Fertiltiy Centre - another not for profit too.

Wishing you all the very best !

Thanks Gina, Missy, Baby-Amore and Butterfly Warrior.

I can't believe how up and down you can feel in this TTC rollercoaster, I was feeling down about TTC so decided to see a Gyno. I never thought I would have to get to the stage of needing IVF as i already have a 4 year DS. It just makes me appreciate him a whole lot more whilst on this wonderful journey.

I posted this post as I was told they had a clinic there and my DS was born there, so I do have the upmost faith in the hospital but nobody else seemed to mention them in the post so I became nervous about it. ( you know how you get anxious about everything in this journey)

Gina thanks for giving me some inspiration Good luck with your precious bundle. Try not to think of it as double trouble just double the cuddles and kisses and LOVE. And I guess if you ony want 2 kids you have saved yourself some money (LOL).

I am feeling so much more relaxed about going to see the Doctor (Gina .. through the hospital not through SIVF) although I am anxious about when they will start the process and thinking about getting time off from work (like I said you get anxious about everything in this journey don't you!!)

Thanks again everyone and good luck to all of you

    Hi again Gina

Wow that is great. What happen, did you only have one ET and it split??? Identical twins are from the same egg isnt it??? Wow if that is the case that you had one egg and it split, that is like one in a million chance or some thing like that isnt it. That is the best news for some one like us who went through IVF to get at least one child but 2...YAY I also go through the Westmean Public Hospital as its heaps cheaper. I had Callum my son and also the other egg took that was transfered with him and ended up on my overy but thats a long story. It ended up dieing at about 12 weeks. OB found it when I had my c-section with Callum. Out of the same cycle I had another pg that ended up being ectopic so of cause that was removed with tube. So really out of the once cycle I had 3 pg's. So that is good although the they are . So now just waiting for my next AF to come ( got af now) and then will have my last 2 eggies transfered. This is my second cycle.

Baby~amore` congrats on your twins too. I love hearing about twins. OH, I want twins but I think it will kill me as I have DD and DS but would love one more!!

Racey I know what you mean about having to do the IVF when you already had a child. My DD was 12 when I had DS and she was Nat. ITs a big shock to think yay how can I have a child nat and then have to do IVF for more. But its all good in the end. Im sure the IVF there will be great. Its the best hospital!!! Good luck with your appointment and let us know how it all goes hun.

    Hey Gina
Just wondering do you have a pg journal??

  17. #17
    gina Guest

    Hey Missy,

You have been through the ringer just like me and had an ectopic just like me and had one sit on your ovary just like me!!! Were we separated at birth or what!!

To answer your question, the chances of one embie splitting is 1 in 50,000. Couldnt ask for anyting better than that eh?!! You did great with 3 pg out of one cycle. I have got another embie left and if i dont use it ill donate it to a derserving couple. I think thats only fair considering all the emotional rubbish that couples go through to get pg.

Good luck with the transfer of the last embies. Its going to be ok.
DONT GIVE UP!! I know you can do it - even if it takes another cycle its worth it.

I dont have a pg journal - wouldnt know where to put one and where to start to be honest!?

Keep in touch sweety. xoxoxo Gina

    Hey Racey,

I know that your doctor is with RPA and not with SIVF. He is really good. I spoke to a nurse today as i went into the hospital and the nurse is me friend - i was told he has helped alot of couples. Keep the faith!! If i can do it so can you!!!

ps - your a classic (cheaper by the dozen eh) !!!
