    Smile baby's sex 90%

    Hi,
This is my first baby and yesterday I had my 19 week scan and was told my baby was 90% a boy. Just wanting to know if this is what everyone is told or is there a chance it may still be a girl.
    Thanks

When i was pregnant with DS, I had my scan at just over 20 weeks, and the guy said, if I had to make an estimate it would be 99.99% sure its a boy. I think that they like to give only percentages in case they are wrong and get sued or something!!!!! But 90% is pretty high, especially for a boy, I've heard its easier to pick a boy than a girl, cos its easier to look if something is sticking out!! haha!! Either way, I'm sure he/she will be gorgeous. :-)

We weren't given any percentages the first time around.
    Congrats on your little babyboy!

I think 90% is pretty high. We were told that if DS turned out to be a girl, the sonographer would quit her job. That is how sure she was. lol

I have 2 girls and was told with DD1 it was 80% leaning to her been a girl and with DD2 70% as they couldnt see any boy bits but for me i really thought the bits were hiding and it would be a boy- i was wrong the sonographer was right

I wasn't give any percentages but took her word on it being a girl. She didn't stutter or take her time looking at it, she put the little ultrasound roller thing in the right spot, pointed out two lines as she said 'see the two lines' I screamed its a girl...... Cheeseburger effect she then proceeded to tell me it was a girl.

I told her before she told me LMAO.

That sounds pretty sure, I think they are just giving themselves an out in case somehow they got it wrong. You are lucky that they will tell you what they think, as a lot of scanners are refusing to say what they think these days.

    boy or girl?

Yeah I would trust the ultrasound! I have them both on video, and with my DS I could CLEARLY see the frank and beans haha (that was at 19wks)

With my DD, the lady said that she was "pretty sure" it was a girl. She seemed pretty positive but even through the whole pregnancy I was unsettled about it, so I never bought ANY pink clothes!!

Even when I gave birth I'm like "is it a girl? is it a girl?" I was so convinced it was a boy but the lady was right

    Hi nic08,

I had my scan with DS2 at 19 weeks and was told 90% girl.......I picked out her name and started buying pink things!! At 26 weeks I got sick and was put into hospital. They decided to give me an u/s so I asked the guy doing it to just double check the sex (I knew it wasn't a girl) and sure enough he pointed to his little bits on the screen and asked me if I knew what that was! Yep, I knew what that was. So, I went home and told DF, 'she' was now a 'he'.

My advice is if you really want to know and want to plan ahead then have another u/s later.

Olimoo, now you have me worried!!! We were told 90% girl at our 19 week ultrasound & we are orgnised for a girl. Girl clothes, name set, bedroom being finished off today (if I can get the damn blinds in properly LOL). Did it look "girl" to you or you couldn't tell?

And I'm also pretending I don't know abotu Kelli's "Lucy" turning into her "Liam" at birth

Sorry Sarah!! Didn't want to worry anyone. I couldn't tell to be honest. The u/s guy seemed a bit annoyed when I even asked him to tell us the sex! Maybe he is often wrong! I just knew within myself anyway that it was a boy because my pregnancy was exactly the same as with my DS1. Know this isn't alway the case but it was with me. I'm just glad I had that second u/s.

I'm sure you will be welcoming a little pink bundle!!!

He said mine was DEFINITELY a boy! I had no percentages with either.

Yeah I heard that very few boys turn out to be girls... I mean- you can SEE the boy parts!! but with my DD I could tell that it wasn't big down there, however it could've been hiding!! the lady seemed sure but you just never know with girls!

I was told they were 90% sure it was a girl with my DD I still got them to check at every ultra sound and she was.
I wasnt given a % with DS just told it was a boy,
with this bub i had my scan last week there was no mistaking he is a boy, his willy was floating in the breeze, lol .
They wont give you a 100% gaurantee on what the sex is, its to keep them covered.

I read somewhere recently that ultrasounds are only thought to be about 95% accurate in picking bubs sex.
