Our kettle is 14 years old. It's a Fissler stainless steel (18/10 ie good quality) stove top. I love it. Paid $180 for it and have used it every day at least 3 times, usually about 5. the problem is that because it has a wooden handle over the top it has been scorched (mainly by visitors who turn up the flame too high so that it licks up the side of the kettle. I see a day soon where the handle will come off rendering it unusable.
What I want to know:
What type of kettle do you have?
How old is it?
What type of kettle would you buy next time (regardless of price)
I have seen some nice Kitchen Maid ones around. I will stay with stove top ones as I like them... love to be able to make a cuppa during a blackout etc. We also hope to one day own an Aga stove. Plus I don't like too many cordy appliances on my benches LOL
There is one that I want that is breville I think but it could be another brand I'm not sure. Its got a perculator inset that is removable so it can be used as a kettle. I like it because if I'm having a dinner party I can serve the kettle on the table and it looks very stylish, and can also be used to make coffee And yes I'd thought about the what if people want tea. Easy I'd make up a teapot first then make the percolated coffee. I have had coffee in this before and it tastes great. It is called the Caf? Cordfree Percolator. They have it on the Breville website
ETA: Nevermind I just saw you want a stove top Kettle LMAO!

Cai: LOL ta matey... the Breville sounds interesting but I'm too old fashioned!

I love our simple, old, stove top kettle, though it's not flash to look at - great during blackouts!
Our handmedown electric kettle died a month ago and I didn't want to just get any old kettle to replace it and resisted getting one from a discount store. Just so happens that I noticed a stylish electric kettle in the CBA Awards brochure and ordered it. It's white, 1.7l, concealed element, 2.2Kw, lime-scale inhibitor (or something like that) and in that bell-shape. It's a Breville, I'm pretty sure. Can't wait for it to arrive! Aldi will have a similar shaped item from Thursday in cream and red for $40 roughly, so being that they're not selling it for $10-20, it must be a reliably sourced kettle.
Anyway, that's what I"ve got and what I'm getting
