Sorry to be a grumpy bear but I am feeling really cheated. EVERYONE (ok except my Mum) kept telling me that my Morning Sickness would end at, 12 weeks, 14 weeks, 16 weeks etc. This includes medical staff who insisted that its all very normal.
Well I am just about at the 19 week mark and its building up again, not that it left but the 14 day stint of steroids did help get me down to only throwing up 1-2 times a day. I'm back up to feeling ill all day and not being able to keep anything down today.
I realise that this might just be my lot in life but its not making my life any easier. If the Dr's and others can't fix it, then they can't, but is it so much to ask that someone with a bit of paper says "Oh sorry, we got that one wrong. Looks like you do get really bad, prolonged morning sickness. No its not in your head, it is real and yes I can see why its affecting every aspect of your life. We'll make sure your not dehydrated or starving - you just get through it as best you can"
What I really don't want to hear is yet another person saying "Oh that should be over by now" I KNOW BUT IT ISN'T!
Once again sorry for the grumpy rant but I am having a really bad day. If I could I would find a nice cave to hid in. If there is anyone out there who is still feeling ill let me know please. It wont fix it but at least I wont feel so abnormal.
Diana
PS Just in case your wondering I have tried all the alternative options, stuffed myself silly on ginger, done the Maxalon and Zofran attempt and even steroids (not the body building ones the de sensitising ones). Its not for lack or trying. I also know that there are other women out there with it worse than me and all my sympathy and empathy goes out to them.
*hugs* hun.
I really hope it subsides for you soon. Mine came back with a vengeance for a while at 30 weeks so I can vaguely empathise.
Praying it all buggers off reeeeeeeeeal quick.
I've got friends who have been incredibly sick through their pregnancies too. Some people do just get really ill. What a relief going into labour will be for you, and you're almost halfway there! You can do it!
Did you try the pressure bands that people use for sea-sickness? I think you can get them from the chemist. Just in case you haven't heard of them, I'm guessing you're willing to try anything to give you some relief...I know some people find relief by using those.
I think being sick all the time entitles you to a bit of a grump. I really hope you find something that works, even just a little bit for you. Otherwise, all the best until you get your beautiful little bundle and start to think...'maybe it was worth it'!
I am nearly 20 weeks and I still have violent MS evey morning - I must admit that it is less severe than in the start but I still have at least one day a week where anything I eat comes straight back up. The only thing that I have found to helo me feel better in the morning is Iced Coffee - I have a bottle evey morning and I find it settles my tummy heaps. I have to keep eating ALL day tho or I start to feel off again as well.
I hope that u start to feel better soon - but even if it takes labour to ease it it will all be worth it!!
Well after a REALLY bad 2 days I went off to the emergency department and got put onto a drip. All the staff were really kind and sympathetic and I was ok - not better but ok.
Then low and behold the nurse that came in to remove the drip said it... "at 19 weeks you shouldn't have morning sickness, you do know you need to drink fluids". My DH then informed her of my history and intercepted it, but even he walked out of there commenting that he understood why I get frustrated.
All said and done I'm back home now feeling a lot less dizzy and faint and my headache is 50% better. I'm even holding down gatorade so if I can keep this up we might be right (water is still a bit too much for me).
I atleast know now that going in to be rehydrated is not so bad (even though the Dr stuffed up putting in the first cannula) and that its sure better then letting myself get worse. I'll just ignore the one stupid comment and be thankful that there were atleast 9 other really nice hospital staff who didn't say anything daft.
You poor thing. I had morning sickness my entire pregnancy and even in labour, the moment hamish arrived it went. I know you probably didnt want to hear that, but i just wanted to let you know that there are other people out that there that have it longer than the "normal" 12 weeks they say you are meant to have it. I tried everything else well but the only thing that worked was actually having the baby (sorry to say).
Good luck with it though, you may find something that works for you.
Severe Morning Sickness is calles Hypermesis Garvardium. Definitely worth spending as much time as you can getting treatment hun. Baby will take all it needs from you, but if you have nothing left to give then it could be very serious.
Thanks for refering the other message board and sharing your stories. It does help to know I'm not alone. I think a part of me realises that the only way to stop this is for the baby to come out, I just have to make it to that point healthy and sane.
I am trying to see the funny side where possible and not let it get me depressed again, but I may still go through a few more downs yet. Thank goodness for Mums, I would be much more of a mess with out her (she had HG with me to the point where I came early due to the toxin build up).
I just wish others where more understanding, but then again I guess everyone going through their own difficult patches wishes that.
My aim today is to just keep as much fluid and food down - no matter how ill it maikes me feel. I figure if it takes drinking 5L to keep 2 down then so be it at least me and bub will be ok.
mumintraining - there is a product that is availabe from your chemist called 'Gatrolyte' comes in different flavours.
I had a really bad case of Gastro about week 26 of this pregnancy and was finding it hard to keep anything down.
Got DH to go to the chemist and get me some of that and it helped heaps!
It is actually specifically designed to replace lost electrolytes - has potassium, magnesium etc
Maybe try giving that a go? I was getting really bad headaches as well and after forcing that down me it made me feel sooooo much better!
Hang in there hun, hoping it passes for you very soon!
P.S My girlfriend has 13 days to go (2nd pregnancy) and is still vomitting. I guess some women are more prone to it than others sadly!
Awww you poor thing! I can really sympathise. I was so sick throughout my whole pg. I hated people saying "it should have stopped by now" and "oh are you still sick??"
The only positive i saw out of the whole thing was that I didn't put on any weight (lost in fact) and ended up 7kg lighter at the end of my pg.
I can say I hated being pg. I'd do labour again in a minute (and i didn't have the easiest labour in the world), but I'd think twice about being pg.
Please make sure you get your fluid levels checked regularly. If you are bringing up everything and losing weight you are getting dehydrated, whick is bad for your kidneys and releases toxins into your blood. It can also lead to issues with your pancreas, which can lead to diabetes. try to get your levels checked at least once per week and dont let anyone tell you it is fake. ask them how much have they kept down and how much they like vommiting. You are not bulemic, you have a serious medical condition, that can be fatal if not properly managed. Keep an eye on the colour of your wee if you are doing any. the darker it is the more dehydrated you are. If you are very dark or not weeing at all then go to the hospital and get a drip hun. Ring your mum to come and help you. you need support. See if she can keep on top of your housework for you hun. you are using all your energy being sick and need to focus on getting better, not cleaning.
Mumintraining, also refering you to my thread https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...o-i-go-dr.html there were some things to try in there if you are desperate like I was. I am finally getting some relief and I am able to enjoy the pregnancy a bit more now. Good luck hun
