that are good quality and cheap? went to target they cost a fortune and are not very nice looking and they dont have much of a variety, same for kmart. i am not gonna pay over 50 bucks for a piece of clothing so ripe or room 42 are out. tried ebay but its hard to know if they are gonna fit. so where oh where do you guys buy your maternity clothes from?
I got a lot of great stuff from Pumpkin Patch online. They regularly have huge discounts on their sale items and you can always go into the shop to see what size you are. For example I got cargo pants for $20, summer tops for $5 and $10, shirts for $15.
Hollo
I gave up and bought a few things from target to get me through. At least I'm comfortable now. But I will be interested to know where everyone have got good quality and not to $$$$ clothes!!!
on saturday it was soooo hot, i needed something other than my maternity pants so went down to the shops. First stop pumpkin patch - $80 for a dress that looked like crap. So I left it.
Went into Kmart - they had 40% off any two dresses so I got two dresses and a top for work for $94.
Its so hard - they are all so expensive and i just got things just to see me through, because I really had to.
I think its such a waste to spend $$ on something for just a few months - so I am quite happy to stretch out some of my other clothes and get NEW things to wear for a long time afterward!
just to add - if there are any designers out there here is your niche to make a mint - Maternith CLOTHES and BRAS that fit each other! You know, tops that you dont have to pull up over your fuller fitting bra, straps n the dresses that aren't spaghetti straps etc....
my god we can land on the moon but we cant have affordable fashionable, comfortable clothes for our pregnant ladies!
I got fishermans pants, a strapless black dress and a couple of tops from Maternity-Me online for $25 a piece. They always have sale items for $15 - $25.
I got my jeans and another top from Pumpkin Patch on sale. Black pants for work I got from a local maternity shop. They were $90 and I wore them every day until I started mat leave
Also got a few cheapo $10 normal baby doll style tops from Cotton On and still able to wear them now, good for hiding post baby belly
I got a few things off ebay.
New stuff I got from Big W.
I also got stuff from Jay Jays, & Fashion Fair as the fashion these days isn't too bad for pg women.
I'n not a very big person though so that kinda helps.
You can also look in 2nd hand shop for pre-loved mat clothes...maybe google the second hand shops in your area. I know some 2nd hand shop also specialises in Mat clothes...as for me, i went to Kmart when they had the 60% off the 2nd garment and bought heaps of tops, mostly singlets adn a couple short sleeve shirts. All I need now is a couple pairs of 3/4 pants or shorts and I will be wearing skirts most summer.
if youre after something different Hi-So on ebay do great cotton multicolour patch hippy pants, and lots of tube dresses. i hate the pastel maternity camoflage that most shops sell!
Bonds dresses are great for pregnant bellies. Not maternity dresses, but they fit great adn are heaps comfortable.....chuck some yoga pants under them on cold days are you're laughing. SO comfy, I wore that combination every day for the last two or three weeks of my pregnancy (wish I had have discovered them earlier!)
Pumpkin patch online is great, as is instore sales.
Whilst it does hit hard having to pay $79.95 for a pair of mat jeans at target etc, i found buying a few essential items - cargos, jeans, couple of tees, nice shirt ,cost me $150-$200, but that was it, i was done for the pregnancy. I also found buying 1 or 2 good quality items will see you wearing them in further pregnancies (if thats your choice ), or their great for passing onto girlfriends whom are expecting......
I bought a lot of clothes from kmart. I liked their V neck crossover tops. Good for breastfeeding after too. Once I found my denim skirt I was happy. I also stretched out a few of my other tops and bought some from jeans west. I got them too big though, I got a large and am normally a s-m. the medium would have been better for me as there would have been some definition. I also bought some clothes from Pumpkin patch. CHeck out the online outlet store, I had aquick look and there are some nice tops for about $15.
Hollo - I suggest you go to Maternity Revolution - pm me if you want details, otherwise google them. They have lots of different brands and always have sales.
hi , you could try on some things from kmart etc and see what size fits then check on ebay . i was lucky enough to get some great stuff in kmart when they had end of season sales like cargo maternity pants for $4 when they are usually $40. i agree in not paying a fortune for maternity clothes actually with my other three pregnancies i didnt even buy maternity wear oh another place ive seen stacks of stuff is garage sales.
so far I've only bought a pair of black pants for work, think they were only about $40, which is cheap for a pair of pants I'll wear 5 days a week for like 6 months lol!
as for other things...I'm going to sew as much stuff as I can. Mum and I have collected a few patterns between us over the last couple of years, and I bought a few bits of fabric on my last fabric trip!!
The tricky bit is I have two weddings next year...only a few weeks before I'm due! so mums gonna help me make a nice dress and I'll wear this short lacy jacket I made the other week which has plenty of room for boob growth and stops above the tummy hehe!
