Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone has had their first baby pre-term and then had their second baby full term or gone over? I had my DD at 36 weeks and just wondering how common it is for your second bub to come early too. I'm planning on being prepared six weeks early anyway but am interested to see what experiences other mums have had.
It depends on the reason for your premature labour, as to what the chances of another Pre Term bub. Lots of mums have gone to FT after a Prem, hopefully if you and packed and ready early you won't!!
I've only had one bub so far, but asked the question after my first
Mine was PPROM (Preterm Premature Rupture of the Menmbranes) at 33 weeks, my OB told me that in my next pregnancy I will have a 33% chance of going into labour between 31-35 weeks. My labour progressed quite quickly after the begining on the CTX, with bubs born 1hr 45min after the first contraction, so I progressed v. quickly as well, so for me she will be doing additional monitoring from 26/27 weeks to try and prevent it.
My first baby arrived at 36 weeks, my second one at 38 weeks. Like you I was prepared for another early one, I finished work at 33 weeks and had everything ready by 35 weeks. Then I sat around and stared at my belly for three more weeks but it was nice not having to do anything
My OB told me that every woman has about a 5-10% of giving birth before 37wks and that if its happened to you before then those odds double. Like you I'm already thinking about next time already. My OB put it to me like this..... there's at the most a 20% chance of having my next bub before 37wks but an 80% chance that I won't.
Wow, thanks for your comments ladies. Very interesting. I'm not too worried about it. Not like I can do anything about it but was really interested to see what other women had experienced. I appreciate your comments
