Very Confused, BFP HPT but a BFN BT

I`m very confused and upset, I had a very bright bold BFP yesterday morning at 19DPO, had my BT this morning, received my results an hour ago, GP says "Not pregnant, try again, goodbye" He was very rude!!!!

I don`t know what to think, I`m so upset.

That's a little odd. Perhaps wait a few days, and presuming AF doesn't show go somewhere else for another BT. Have you done another HPT? I know most of us do a few.

Aww Dee how confusing! Did you take your bfp in to show the doctor? Was it a quantitative or qualitative test? That might explain things if your levels were low. for great news if you do a second BT.

Nikki - No he didn`t give me my levels, he just made me feel like a PITA IYKWIM. I know with Adrian at 5.5 weeks my levels were only 300 so I`m hoping that perhaps they are just low, I don`t know, I don`t understand how can I get such a positive HPT but a neg BT.

Satya - I`m going to do another HPT tomorrow morning.

Oscar - Was it a quantitative or qualitative test? Sorry I don`t know what that is. Yes I took my HPT into him and he was amazed at how stong it is, there`s no second guessing looking at it as to what it is.

Oh you poor thing, that is soooo confusing . I would assume if AF is late and you had a +HPT then you are pregnant. I can't BELIEVE how rude that dr was! I would definitely go somewhere else for a second opinion. Could you ring back and ask him what your levels were? Maybe he made his own assumptions without giving you the facts?

I hope you have your answer ASAP .

    How rude of that doctor.

I would be getting another BT by a different doctor. Can you do another HPT tomorrow morning?

Honey I think maybe your HCG is low at the moment as you are just pregnant if ?you know what I mean, I would ask for another blood test in a few days time, sorry to hear about your Doc thats so not what you need right now, can you find another one? Fingers crossed!

Dee - i got BFP's on HPT's for four days before my BT - and when i had BT, my HCG was at 26 - as a rule, anything under 25 is considered "not pregnant" - so it's possible that your HCG is simply too low for BT to confirm pregnancy, but you have a sensitive HPT that is registering it nicely

i would be asking for another beta tomorrow from a different doctor - ask for a quantitative (with the hcg number) not just a qualitative (yes or no result). it sounds like the doctor today needed a personality transplant!!

Thank you girls for your thoughts on this it has helped a lot, especially you BG, you`ve given me some hope.

I have been disappointed with this GP a few times now so I`ll be looking for another one and getting another BT done, it`s just all driving me nutty!!!!!

DH seems to think the urine tests are more accurate in early pregnancy then a BT, I`m not too sure about that???? Anyway he tells me to not think too much about what the GP said.

a BT is always more accurate - provided it's a quantitative as it will confirm low numbers - it's not always a good sign (as you yourself have seen with the chemical pregnancy last month), but it's possible that low numbers will grow...

    good luck

My GP rang me last night at 11.10pm to say he was just looking at my 2nd report that came in and I`m infact pregnant.

Now I don`t understand why there are 2 reports and obviously the first one said no and 2nd said yes, very weird or did he make a mistake and had to rectify it in a hurry.

So I didn`t bother wasting another HPT this morning, so yay yes I am UTD. What a drama!!!!!!

BG - That`s what I thought that a BT was more accurate.
