PCOS & Endo CAN be Reversed!!!

    Hi all,

just incase you weren't aware, I wanted to let ya'll know that PCOS and Endometriosis can be treated and reversed with natural medicine. People immediately presume that the conventional medical sphere is the way to go when they are first diagnosed with these conditions, however (speaking from personal experience as an ex-endometriosis sufferer) all they seem to be able to offer is repeated surgery and synthetic drug treatments which do more harm than good, as they only address the symptom, rather than the underlying cause of the problem.
A few years back I was suffering terribly with endo- painful irregular cycles (among many other symptoms). It was really disheartening because I was always such a health-conscious person and could not understand why this was happening to me. I went to different doctors, gastroenterologists, gynacologists, etc etc, and had tubes stuck up my butt, down my throat and through my belly-button to try and see what was going on. Each time they removed the endo and separated the organs inside me which had stuck together (my bowel had attached to my pelvic wall and consequently I was in agony every time I needed to go to the toilet!!). The pain would subside for a while, until eventually I was back in the same place again.
Until, (thank heavens above) a friend recommended a I see a Naturopath. I went to see this Naturopath feeling somewhat defeated, and cynical that it would do any good.
I was so wrong. I can honestly say that within about 5 days I knew that I was going to be well again. By the time my next period came (normally a time of house-bound agonising pain), I didn't even know it. That's right- i went to the loo, and to my ashtonishment- there was my period- all over my pants. I was so accoustommed to the absolute agony that I had no idea what I normal period felt like and was unable to detect it.
Now my periods are pain-free and regular and have been since that day. I was told I would have trouble conceiving and fell pregnant in the first month of trying.
Bless Natural Medicine and Naturopaths- i tell ya!! My advice is (obviously), find a reputable Naturopath who has had experience with these conditions and get with the program. Life is way too short to waste your health and time on unnecessary surgery and synthetic side-effect filled drugs!!!!
PS- There is a really great book available online called 'The Natural Diet Solution for PCOS and Infertility' by Dr. Nancy Dunne- I can highly reccommend it for anyone serious about totally eradicating this problem!! She even has a personalised website dedicated to this problem. People can also check out the great range of books online at the Natural Health Practice.

Hopefully one day this information will become commonplace and be excepted by the 'conventional' medical community and we can say goodbye to this horrible conditions for good!!!

    Best Wishes to all!!!

Hi Jellybean and everyone, I totally agree, these are conditions that are notoriously difficult to treat with current medical science and the prognosis is not always heartening. I think Naturopathy is great and have heard lots of great success stories using herbs for chronic (long term) gyne probs. I also know Chinese Medicine is very successful and I think the reason for this is that by applying the holistic philosophy of traditional chinese medicine (tcm), we can differentiate each incidence, of endo for instance, into combinations of 3 or 4 major patterns and apply very specific treatments to each person accordingly. There is a saying in Chinese Medicine that reflects this principle, it goes something like, "the same cure for different disease, different cures for the same disease", and the latter part means that the same disease, in this case endo (diagnosed as a type of stasis in tcm) may have different causes in different people, and therefore require different treatment. It is an example of the limitations of a reductionist medical theory that focusses on disease compared to a holistic theory that observes how a person's internal environment relates to their external environment. There are many other areas where current medical science is the preferred treatment (especially acute conditions) and studies that support combination treatments however it is my belief also that women with this diagnoses should make natural medicine their next port of call.

i wholeheartedley agree. mainstream medicine had file me away in the endo suffering infertile, IVF basket almost immediately after endo was diagnosed. no treatment other than a lap and a 6 month menopause. i chose not to go down that path as the OB/GYN told me that the lap would cause scarring...to me that sounded like a further impediment to fertility.

so after 2 years of trying to ignore it and following an endo friendly diet, i found a homeopath who spent the time going through my medical history and trying to find what could be causing the endo. the first time anyone had mentioned this. they were previously all about just 'fixing it', but without knowing where it came from ITMS.

2 months later (after 18 months of trying) we fell pg with our DD!

I thank you for the info. But please refrain from using words like 'needless sufferes' and ' I recommend it for anyone serious about totally eradicating this problem!!

I for one have tried the diet and natural alternatives and yes they did and still do give some relief but in no way eradicate the disease.

Not everyone is as lucky as you have been or perhaps it is prudent to say that their are differing levels of this disease.

I am truly thankful for your input and advice but just found your tone a little condesending.

    Sorry Joey's Girl

    Hi Joey's Girl,

I'm very sorry if I offended you. I didn't intend that at all. I just get SO frustrated and upset when I read these horrible stories of women suffering all the symptoms I used to- and are taking all these horrible synthetic hormone drugs which only make it worse.
I take your point though that we are all different- and of course not all the same things are going to work exactly the same for everyone, but it is my true opinion that given the right conditions (finding this is the elusive part- and takes a really good natural therapist) the body can and does heal itself. Our bodies are constantly seeking homeostasis (balance)- that is why we get the symptoms- our bodies are trying to tell us that whatever we are doing is not working. Everyday, even the most virulent of conditions- Cancer, AIDS etc have been eliminated through intensive natural therapies.
I must also admit that I was incredibly ruthless when it came to my natural medicine approach- taking the probiotics, supplements and herbs daily, undergoing rigorous detox for internal candida (present in most endo sufferers) and I still avoid food such as dairy, wheat, and alcohol to this day. I have found it is an ongoing process to maintain the balance of health. I'm sure if I let slip on the wrong things for long enough- my symptoms would return. I only consider myself cured because I refuse to walk down that path again.
I am truly sorry if you have tried all these things but to no avail. Endo really makes life hard. My only last words of advice are- don't give up!!! Keep seeking and hopefully one day you will find the answers to your suffering!!

    No Kidding!!!
There have been many cases of people testing positive to AIDS, and then years later testing negative. Some people claim their healing is miraculous, others claim it is due to intensive natural medicine/nutrition. Either way you look at it- these cases have left the medical community stumped, as according to them, such recoveries cannot be explained by medical science.
There is a fantastic book called 'The AIDS War; Propaganda, profiteering and genocide from the medical-industrial complex' which details personalised cases of recovery from AIDS and the shocking details of how the medical community continue to keep people in the dark about this condition in order to profit from their illness. It is not the doctors as such who are to blame- but the multi-billion dollar pharmacuetical industries who patent a steady stream of new 'wonder' drugs and dictate what doctors prescribe. Ever wonder why doctors and pharmacuetical companies never recommend anything natural? Natural things cannot be patented- they cannot profit from them the same way they can from a synthesised drug. They argue that natural things don't work- and yet where do they get the materials to chemically-alter and manufacture their drugs? Nature, of course.
Ok- I just got totally carried away there!! LOL- you can see how passionate I am about these issues!!

Thanks jbean, I think your opinion and the way you get it across helps to put a lot of other opinions into perspective. Keep getting carried away (in the ever polite manner you do..), natural medicine needs people with the time to do proper research and the passion to get informed opinions out there!

    Thank you jellybean and justin!

I am sooo happy to see this thread of messages, and glad I stumbled upon this site in my hours of researching endometriosis online. I was diagnosed two weeks ago after a laparoscopy removed endo from both ovaries and bowel. I'd been struggling with back pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, urinary tract infection symptoms, nausea, and fatigue.

I'm a Canadian living in the UK, and it's been so disheartening to read on a lot of the UK endometriosis sites how many women go through years and years of treatments, medications, doctors appts, surgeries, etc. I am so determined NOT to be one of those women. I bought the book endometriosis: A key to healing and fertility through nutrition by Dian Shepperson Mills and Michael Vernon and even before that I believed there had to be natural ways to help myself without resorting to loads of drugs and never ending hospital appointments.

I am now on day 10 of wheat free, sugar free and dairy free (I was already a vegetarian who didn't drink caffeine or eat much sugar) so it hasn't been that bad so far. (Horrible nausea and no appetite post surgery is helping, I'm sure!) I've also started taking a lot of supplements such as evening primrose oil, B complex, vitamin C, magnesium and echinacea. I know there is no overnight cure for endo (trust me, I'd buy it if there were!) so I'm in these changes for the longhaul.....

Today I have my first appointment at a Chinese medicine clinic for acupuncture and massage, and I'm sure they will also prescribe herbs.

I have started logging my journey in an online blog at scubajojo
which hopefully others who are interested in natural endo treatment will read. It's just my journey, and the things I am trying to treat endo, and how they work for me.

Sorry for such a long post.... thanks to you both for such great messages about how this can be beaten NATURALLY!

    Cheers,
    Jo

Jelly Bean, even though you have bottomless enthusiasm for what you have found to have helped you, I think you need to bare in mind that natural therapies is not everyones cup of tea and I think you really need to respect that some people may not choose to go down that path of treatment, or have found that natural therapies do nothing to alleviate their condition.

And just as an asside, it would make sense that HIV/AIDS can be mangaged in this way considering that they are auto-immune illnesses and using natural therapies to help treat them and keep the immune system strong (notice I didn't say cure them) will obviously be of benefit.

    Hey Trillian

    Hi Trillian,

I hear where you are coming from, and I appreciate that some people may not want to go down that path - neither did I (at least initially!). But I am very glad I eventually did after years of suffering and I can't help but sharing my story and passion for natural health with others. It has also done many things for my extended family- Cancer, Autism etc, so I have seen many small miracles occur due to Natural Medicine (although a Natural Therapist will never tell you that they healed someone, it is Natural Medicine philosophy that the body always heals itself, if it is given the right conditions to do so).
But my point being, if I can help just one person out there by sharing this info- then that is awesome to me. I don't expect everyone to be inspired by my story and go seek a Natural Therapist. People can take or leave anything written here.
As for the AIDS thing- I know it sounds absurd, as it is so far off what we learn growing up, and what society tells us is the norm- but I promise you that there are stranger things out there than people testing HIV positive, and then years later testing HIV negative. There are many people out there who have (by one way or another) acheived this, and they have the medical documentation to prove it. I found it really ashtonishing to discover that myself!!! Of course, however, for the vast majority of people this does not occur, but for the few that it does happen to- perhaps it can give others some hope. I don't know....
I don't really believe many things i am told anymore- I spend a lot of time researching random interesting things- lol. Weird.

I like your signature, by the way. Why are we so afraid of saying 'vagina'? - lol!

I know that you just want to share how great you're feeling now and what worked to make you feel so well, but sometimes it comes across as an affront to others and the choices that they have made for their own treatment kwim?

As for the vagina thing, well some women just don't say it and choose 'vuhjayjay' or 'down there' instead - but we're all women here (well mostly) so we all have one so we shouldn't feel like we are saying a swear word when talking about it.
