Hi, my ds is appr 3weeks, and just wondering how much sleep all the other mums are getting at night.. my little one sleeps apprx from 6 til 10.30 or so, then wakes every 3/4 hrs after. so i get about 2 hrs of sleep in between the 3feeds. would love to know what others get.. ta
First 6 weeks i was probably up every 2-3 hrs. I breastfed all my girls. I might have gotton a 4 hours stint from say 8pm - 12pm, but being up every 2-3 hrs was pretty much the norm.
Yep sounds like what I have been getting 3 hourly feeds that are roughly 1-1 and 1/2 hours n legnth leaving not much sleep time! My DH is lovely and has been doing morning duty with the 2 kids though so I can sometimes get 2 hours in the morning without the monitor on!
Yep, same here, we're still doing 3hrly feeds, with the occaisional 4-5hr break sometimes if I'm lucky. Co sleeping really helps with lack of sleep if you can. I hardly wake now when ds needs a feed and don't really remember doing it!! I still get broken sleep, but I can snooze while he feeds so I don't have to actually get up and fully wake.
The first 2 months Brock would wake around 1am & 4am and I'd be up for around 15 mins to 30 mins each time. I would go to the lounge and watch Foxtel while I was doing it. I managed to catch up on a show I loved but had missed episodes of as it was on at 4am so I didn't mind that feed. I felt like I got heaps of sleep and didn't feel sleep deprived at all but I think that's cos I'd get straight back to sleep when I got into bed.
From 2 months on he would wake mostly just once a night for a feed then started to sleep through at 12 weeks.
I def loved my pay tv when caleb was that age!!! we had about 3 hour blocks too, but the little bugger would sometimes be awake longer than half an hour... now that got tuff!!!! For us it all got HEAPS better around the 10 week point, but lots of my friends said 6 weeks it got better for them.!!
The first 3 months DS was feeding every 2 hours and taking up to an hour to feed, nappy change and resettle, which gave me an hour to sleep in between. That was around the clock. I was a zombie Many a times we both fell asleep during feeds especially in the wee hours of the morning, only to be awoken again with him rooting for the next feed. Felt like it would never end.
It does get better though, DS started sleeping through from about 4.5 months.
We have a six week old and we are getting about the same too - 3-4 hours in a row and up for about half hour, some times an hour. Its broken sleep but its still good and keeps us sane...
I find she is settled from about 10- 11pm and wakes for feeds at about 2am, 5am and 9am. We get up & start the day properly at 9ish. She has basically had this routine from the time we bought her home from hospital...
Sometimes her Dad will get up with her from 6am and let me sleep in - delightful...
oh well nice to know i am not the only one who is living on broken sleep, of a few hrs here and there.
My day though starts at appr 5am, as when i am up breastfeeding at this time of morn, DS(2) is about to start his day.. oh the w/ends are good when DH is home
