i had my 20 wk ultrasound last week, it was so amazing and everything was perfect (a big relief), however she asked me how far along i was and i said 20 weeks that day, but she said i was measuring 21 weeks and probably ovulated a week earlier than i thought i did. the thing is i had given up ttc at that time and actually have no idea when conception occured so it could've been earlier. she said it's up to my dr whether they bring me forward a week or leave it as is.
so do i count it that i'm 20 or 21 weeks. has anyone else been told this.
thanks
We had the opposite, went for a 20 wk scan and was told I was measuring 18w 4d or something so they eventually put my due date a week and a half later after I had another scan at the new 21 weeks.
I was told the same thing & everytime the dr measured my fundal height it was always a week higher then it should be. He never changed my EDD though just left it where it was, DS came 5 days after EDD & he didn't really seem overcooked or anything.
That's perfectly normal. The best time to find out your due date is 12 weeks, or earlier. After 12 weeks, each baby grows at a different rate. I would just with your original due date. Bub will come when he/she is ready to anyway.
I had the same thing happen at my 20 week scan by the way, bubs was measuring 21 weeks. Unlike you however I was counting days religiously and know pretty much exactly when I ovulated, so I know my dates are right. Looks like I'm just gonna have a big bubba. I was 9lbs when I was born, am now 175cm and 70kgs. DH was 7lbs when born, now 190cm or something (6'2") and 100kgs. Two large people = large baby I guess!
I'm not too concerned. My mum birthed me at 9lbs, breech (one of my hands/arms and my bum came out at the same time ), naturally.
yep def dont worry about it. i remember being told the later in the preg the more room for 'error' - ie may measure above or below and a week either side would def be right. My OB said til about 12 wks it is more developmental (even better earlier) and so easier to measure for dates and after that the later you go the more genetics have to play a part (same with diff body parts measuring diff ages ie my DS had legs that measured about a week 'older' than the rest - he must have just had long legs - as i do - not that you could tell when he was born or now)
Yep - Bub was measuring 8 days ahead when we had our 20wk scan. I know my dates are spot on as I was on Clomid and charting my temp. My Ob even based his dates on my chart rather than LMP. My fundal height has been around 2cm ahead too but OB is happy as he said it means Bub is obviously well nourished. He prefers Bub's to be a little bigger than anything else. I think I am just going to have a big Bub as I was a big Bub myself (10lb 3oz).
that sounds good, thanks. i'll just count it as it is, like you said a bit better to be a week ahead than behind. my ob only got the due date from the date of my last period cause i never had a earlier dating scan cause i was so sick, but thats what i was thinking, i'm sure he/she let me know when it's ready. ha ha.
I had last scan at 19w5d, measured 21w and the Ob very sensibly said - the world is made up of people of all different shapes and sizes. Not going to change EDD, if you go early that's a bonus!
Um, and I did go 10 days early - so nice to not have to wait till that dreaded date ..
At my last scan at 28 weeks they measured bumps head, abdo and leg and she said he is a big baby. Measuring about 2 weeks ahead of himself. Its kind of good to know he is growing well but at the same time I am scared now that he will come early. He has been engaged since 27 weeks and has dropped quiet low as his head presses on a nerve that shoots down my woohoo. My tummy has dropped heaps also.
I am only little 5ft1 and DH is 6ft2 so I am scared that bump will be too big to pass through my pelvis. Will tell obs next week that this is making me panic a bit. Need some reassurance thats all.
The other thing I said was that God (or mother nature etc) will give you the perfect baby for your body... no bigger, no smaller. Remember He only gives us things he knows we are strong enough to handle
