maybe felt baby kicking, but now nothing

I thought I felt the baby move a couple of weeks ago (around 17 weeks). Little tiny flutters that could have been something else too.

Last week (around 18 weeks) sometime I felt this regular kind of drumming thing, it lasted maybe 30 seconds, as if baby had gotten heels or elbows and was banging them into me.

But for the least few days I've felt nothing.

I know that feeling movement stop in a few weeks could be a worry. But I wonder whether I ought to worry now, if I don't feel anything at all for a few days. It has never been absolutely clear that what I felt was the baby, so maybe all my imagination and hopes.

Is it normal to feel something and then nothing for a few days, at this stage?

    I'm 19 weeks tomorrow.

i would say its fairly normal , some ppl dont feel movement untill 22 wks ... have you tried drinking a really clod drink and lying down ?? also really feel your tummy , give it a shake and a prod .. and relax to see if you can feel bub ..

If you are really worried go see your midwife , call the hosp for reassurance .. they can put a doppler on and find bub in seconds ..

hope you feel bub soon , its most likely facing toward your back and kicking so you cant feel hin ..

let us know how you go xx

    Hi Tenar
Don’t worry hun, it is normal. First time mums won’t feel their baby kick until about 20 weeks, and as you said you are not 100% sure that it was your baby moving that you felt. However if you wish to reassure yourself then just go to the hospital and they cab let you listen to the heartbeat.

Tenar, same here. I am not even completely sure it was the baby that I felt, but it happened a few times then stopped and now nothing for the last 4 days. Maybe he/she is just pointing the other way for a bit????

    hey tenar,
i felt bub move for the first time after my 20 week ultrasound. i had felt slight flutters since around 19 weeks but they were few and far in between. now i'm 21/22 weeks i've felt the baby move nearly every night, so i imagine this is very normal.
i too was a little concerned when it was days in between movement but have read this was normal and now it's everyday i can feel them.

    Hi Tenar

I felt our baby kick for the first time at 17w6d really strong and then just little flutters afterwards, which kind of freaked me out too. Dont' worry though i put it down to the baby is still small and needs to be in a certain position for it to really feel like a kick/ punch.

i find that if i've been really busy during the day and haven't had a chance to sit down much, once i go to bed to go to sleep it fires up - i put my hand down low and stay still and talk to DP and it usually gives a few kicks - but can take awhile cos it might be asleep. also drink super cold water or have a bowl of cereal (my fave midnight snack) or icecream - haha that will wake it up.

It will soon be kicking and wriggling non-stop

    Thanks everyone, this is reassuring.

We have another ultrasound booked next week, so I am officially putting off worrying about baby until after that (well, as much as I can manage, anyway). Hopefully it'll show that all is well and hopefully I'll be feeling regular movements by then anyway.
