    Maternity bras

Have you girls bought maternity bras yet? When did you buy them or when are you planning too? I am confused about what to do at the moment

I bought mine at about 13 weeks and have been in them ever since.
I've gone from a B to a DD and can't bear anything too tight now.

bg, what brands have you bought? I have only bought one so far, triumph maternity and it fits but i'm not 100% comfortable in it. I've gone from a DD to a G cup

There's a seller on ebay stocking the fayreform evolve maternity bras for only $30, rrp $80-85 which i like the look of, lucky because i work in the city i can go and try one on and see if i like it

I also went to an intimo party on Saturday and got some great sports bras with no wire that I am going to wear as I find them a little more supportive than maternity bras. These will be good up until I have to breastfeed.

i got some from blest bras - think they're lovable brand. i only wear them when i go out - the rest of the time, i just wear a sports bra - more supportive - though i've found this week that even they're getting far too firm so might have no choice but to go the mat bras full time! damn!

None of my bras have underwires, so I am just sticking with the old ones as long as I can.

I did buy some a bit bigger a few weeks ago, though, and I can see that I'll have to get the maternity bras before long.

But I'm waiting as long as I comfortably can because I don't want to buy expensive bras and then find out they don't fit at the end.

My bb's starting aching at around 9-10 weeks pregnant. My MIL took me to David Jones and had me properly fitted at 10 weeks and to my shock I had gone from a C cup to a D Cup and still in them now. Although they are very worn out and the bloody straps keep falling off my shoulders which is really annoying but I am waiting it out as I don't have long to go now and my cup size may increase when my milk comes in.

Oh by the way the lady who fitted me at DJ's said that if you don't get your bra's fitted properly especially when your pregnant it could end up damaging your milk ducts and make it hard to breast feed. Considering it doesn't cost anything extra for a fitting I think its better to be safe than sorry.

Just to let you know, I got a couple of breastfeeding singlets from target today. I actually got them a size smaller than I am as I wanted extra support. They are just a singlet top with a shelf in them and the pull down thing in the straps. I am going to use these at night so I can still put breast pads in.

Hope your pregnancy is going well.

Thanks for starting the thread cause I am having huge troubles with my maternity bras big time. My boobs have no breathing space they are big enough that there is no gap between them and it is so hot it actually makes me feel a lot warmer. I am so wanting to go back to underwire its killing me. I started at a 10DD and who knows what I am now should probably find that out!

    Hi Ladies,

Do you need to wear a maternity bra? I mean I know it would be easier to breast feed with one, but couldnt you just pull up a normal bra?

Sorry if I have confused anyone!!

you shouldn't wear a bra with underwire at all while breast feeding as the wire can put pressure on your breasts and cause lots of dramas (blockages etc)

i guess you could pull a normal bra up - but it's not going to be comfy at all! your breasts are bigger than your ribs where the band sits, and if you lift that and place the elastic on or above your breast, it's going to hurt! you're better off with a Mat bra if you intend to BF - if you're not looking to bf, then a wire free bra is suggested during pregnancy to stop any dramas as you start producing milk early in pg
