    Passata??

What is it? I bought some from Aldi but I don't really know what it is, lol. So if I wanted to use it for a pasta sauce what else would I need to add? Is it just like having a can of tomatos or does it already have other flavours in it?

Just pureed tomatoes, sometimes can have things like salt, tomato paste etc, but most often it is just tomatoes! Great for pasta sauce!!

    It's just like pulverised tomatos.
If you want a thickish sauce you will probably need to add things to it.
Whether its flavoured or not depends, it should say so int eh ingredients, but they are moslty just tomatoes so you'd add herbs to it.

Oh goodo it's just the same then, well better coz I don't really like big chunks of tomato in my sauces so I will like this better.

I don't use tomato paste for sauces as I don't like the taste or the gunk they use to make it. So we tend to buy passata (or I puree tins of tomatoes) but I'll often add a tin of tomatoes along with the passata or pureed tom's. Also for good passata made sure its made with Roma's.

I actually prefer Aldi's passata as well because there isn't anything added, I can add everything myself

I use it for our bolognaise... but it would work for tomato soup as well.

I once had a recipe that used this and looked for ages wondering what the heck it was lol, finally realised what it was and now I see it all the time.

I used it in Five Spice Lamb recipe so it can be used in lots of different things.

    Cheers,

I'm with Christy - Aldi is one of the nicest I have used and has no additives. Great for all sorts of things - even to top a dish eg tortilla stack, schnitzel etc
