    Ashtanga yoga in early pregnancy?

Anyone else practice ashtanga yoga in pregnancy?...it's quite an intense form of yoga and I have heard some suggest it shouldn't be done during the first trimester..but others continue as normal. I find it calming (and I need calm!)..yet after a hard journey to finally receive a christmas miracle I don't want to risk it at all.

Sorry I can't help with my own experience with Ashtanga Yoga, but I did Hatha yoga right up my waters breaking (15 min after class finished ), but we did have a mum in recently who usually did Ashtanga, had come back to do Hatha Yoga instead for her last few weeks, she still did everything - inversions, headstands, shoulder stands ect, she was much more advanced than I was. But not sure what she did early on.

Can you check with your instructor?

I would strongly advise starting pregnancy yoga instead. I know that some yoga moves are not at all safe in pregnancy. My biggest mistake when I was pregnant was stopping yoga altogether simply because I didn't know what was safe during pregnancy and couldn't find any appropriate DVD's.

Thanks ladies... my instructor says it's safe considering I have been doing it for a while now and also knows alternatives for moves which arent safe in pregnancy...however, she has also said, if I am at all worried, and given my history, it's fine to resume after the first trimester.
My friend teaches pregnancy yoga classes and she advises starting them after 12 weeks.
I am weighing things up...I want to try and keep my anxiety levels under control this time, and yoga is one way I can do that, perhaps I will do a very modified reduced practice at home for a while, and resume normal classes if I am blessed enough to make it past 12 weeks this time round.
