My DD loves Iggle Piggle to bits. I am after a dancing Iggle Piggle and not sure where I can buy one? I haven't seen them in the shops. I do know ABC shops sell them but I think I may have to order it in? I tried ebay but no new ones.
DD turns 1 next Friday too so I really want to make an Iggle Piggle cake. I did post something earlier regarding this but now I think it is better to just buy one from somewhere, I wonder whether Michels Patisserie do them? Will call them tomorrow but just wondering whether anyone else out there knows (a) where to get Iggle Piggle Dancing Toy from and (b) cake information on him also?
Maybe other Mummy's babies love him as much as mine!!
I think the ABC shops do have them and I don't think you have to order them in, they are pretty popular. Hopefully they haven't run out!!!
Regarding the cake, you could take a picture of him (you should be able to get one off the computer) to a good cake shop and see if they can make it. Pity your not in Melb there is a great cake shop that will make whatever you want if you give them a picture.

I do know you can buy the edible images on ebay for In The Night Garden. A girlfriend of mine did one for her DD's 2nd birthday. So maybe you can make a cake (or even buy one or give it to Micheles to do?)
Queenbee re the cake - I made one for DS 2nd birthday. I was short of time so bought the sponge slab from woolies and then drew a tracing of Igglepiggle onto the paper. Cut it out and stuck it to the sponge with toothpicks then cut around it. I iced it with blue icing, used red snakes for his hair, cut an old red baby singlet up for his blanket and used lollies for his eyes nose and mouth. I am not a very artistic person and drawing is not a strong point but he is a pretty easy shape to trace, or you could source an outline from the internet or a colouring book and get a copy shop to enlarge it to A3, cut it out and use it as your template.

Oh god.. Ava loves iggle piggle.. and that other thing um.. upsy daisy she got a singing and talking upsy daisy doll for christmas and iggle piggle books LOL so now i have to put up with dora AND iggle piggle.. wish she'd just like play school least that's tolerable
DD#1 got a dancing Iggle Piggle for Christmas, which came from Big W. Definitely try Big W over the ABC Shop (if you get a choice!!). They are quite a bit cheaper.
I made an Upsy Daisy cake the same way that Nelly described her Iggle Piggle cake. Easy peasy. Otherwise, if you are either short of time or confidence, you can buy small In the Night Garden figurines from Myer, DJs, Big W etc - you get EVERYBODY for less than $20. You could buy a ready made cake and then put them all on the top dancing around. She'll love it and it couldn't be simpler for you.
Lulu, thinking of Upsy Daisy now, a bit more girly than Iggle Piggle. She does like Upsy Daisy too. I can print off something no doubt off the internet and then toothpick it on (like Nelly suggested) and then decorate. Will put my thinking cap on today as Upsy Daisy is really colourful!! But the figures is a good idea too on top if I can't be stuffed!
You won't have any problems getting a picture of Upsy Daisy.
I would suggest doing her in stages and using a combination of royal icing and butter icing. The Royal Icing is great because you can just use it white for her skirt, which you can cut to size and then just lay in a big chunk of the cake - much easier than having to spread butter icing. Use a bit of cocoa to colour the icing slightly for her complexion. Don't try to make her hair out of cake (way too fiddly) - separate 3 or 4 lumps of icing and then colour one yellow and then two or three different shades of pink. Then just roll them into long "strings" for her hair. I also found it much easier to use pipe cleaners as separaters when doing the stripes of her arms. You can also buy ready made icing flowers if you want to use them on her shirt rather than trying to draw them on with icing.
Good luck with it and enjoy. I love doing all this sort of stuff (so long as I leave myself enough time so I don't stress!)

Is butter icing ok? Or do you recommend glace icing, just icing sugar and water and vanilla? Sets pretty hard? What do you think?
I bought licorice allsorts as the colours I can use for various parts of her body and I bought lolly snakes for her hair? How do I prevent the lolly snakes from falling down the back of the head (the cake)? Ok I'm new at this and nervous! I got food colourings today to do all sorts of icing. But never thought royal icing went on sponge cake?
I think whatever icing you're happiest using is fine. I prefer the butter icing for kids' cakes because they seem to prefer it more (although DD#1 has just discovered chocolate ganache - she really is mine after all!!)
You could try "glueing" the snakes with icing to her head but I think you'll have to use a toothpick through the end of each snake and then into her head (poor Upsy Daisy). You'll probably have to either ice her head after doing this or be prepared to do some touch ups if you ice it first. Just be careful when you serve the cake to account for all the tooth picks.
Royal icing is normally used on fruit cakes (wedding cakes etc) but it can be used on anything. When you're doing something big like her skirt its a lot easier to work with. It really doesn't matter though - whatever you want to use is fine.
Don't stress about it too much. Your DD is going to be 1 - all she is going to see is HER Upsy Daisy cake and she's gonna love it.
ETA: just wondering now what you mean by sliding down her head. Are you worried they'll fall off (if yes, then toothpick solution). If you're worried they'll just hang limply rather than stick out, you could try wrapping them around pipe cleaners. Again, just be careful when the kids get to them.

but he is quite large, i'm not sure it would be worth your while re: postage... and actually he wouldn't arrive in time because of the public holidays... dam....
Re her hair: would it be worth doing her "hair" as solid but to separate it as background keep it white and then the snakes that you use for her hair can just stck on and therefore appear to stick out? Or you could pipe her hair with icing using the same principle of the solid background IYKWIM? Same with her skirt - if you are using icing I'd pipe it in.
Queenbee, I would suggest having a look at Cake Central & searching for upsy daisy on there, there are quite a few that will giv you ideas on how to do it
