Wink Ideas for a NYE party for 2

I would love your help to help me plan a special little something tonight

DH and I will be alone tonight for NYE and I am already feeling so homesick it's not funny We always spend NYE with our friends but this year because we are so far away it isn't possible

So, I would love to have a romantic little dinner planned for when he gets home from work. The hard part is that I don't know exactly what time he will get home as we own a takeaway shop and if it's busy he has to stay there.....

So I would love some easy ideas of some tasty yummy food that is easy to prepare and that I can eat as well I am going to set up a picnic rug in the backyard with some candles etc

    Any ideas are appreciated TIA

we're cooking a small roast for two during the day today. if Dh is ready to eat when it's ready, we'll do it hot with veg, if not, it will be cooled, and served as cold cut with salads.

a friend has a tradition with her DH of doing hor dovres (i can't spell!) - she gets vol au vent cases and fills them with creamy chicken, umm, other simple things that you can generally find in the supermarket - just whack them in the oven and they'll be piping hot and ok for you in pregnancy...

Depends if you're after romantic but simple or romantic and fancy!!

If it were me I would just make sandwiches and pack a picnic basket. Depends whether picnics are your thing but I would do sandwiches and then strawberries and chocolate dip, some waffles... everything a little indulgent

Sorry i cant help much more!

We sell fresh prawns at our shop but have sold out, so that's outta the question I did go over to the shop to ask if we had smoked salmon left but I ended up walking out with comfort food

I have been looking at making a quiche this arvo and will pop it in the fridge and serve it cold tonight with some salad but I still want something else....

I found a yummy recipe for choccie mousse which I will make as well. Argh!! I'm usually good at planning things like this... my brain is MIA this past week!

Dani - I am having a mental image of the scene in Sex and the City where Samantha makes Smith the sushi.. although if you don't know what time DH gets home, then it may have the same outcome !

The quiche sounds yummy and as for chocolate mousse.. I am going to go make some now. What about making up a plate of nibbles as well to have while watching fireworks on tv?

    Happy New year!

Thank you SOOOOOOOOO much for that laugh Emma It's just what I needed!!
I doubt I'd look as good as Samantha though! I have a fair speedhump in the way

Nibbles sound great but I doubt DH will be up that late as he has to work at 6.30am in the morning But I will make some anyway.... I am going to watch the SATC marathon on Austar tonight so I will need some sustenance

get some ice cream babe...some cream in the can that squirts out and some chocolate sauce and go to town

Finish it of with a romantic bath in candle light

    Happy New Year's hon

Ok, just been to the supermarket and braved the tourists and surprisingly got out unscathed

So for my menu I have:

Nothing for starters as the deli was too busy

I bought chicken, mushrooms, pineapple and capsicum to make skewers with I'm making quiche as well with tomato, cheese and spring onion as well as a greek salad and potato salad.
For dessert fruit salad and choccie mousse.

So we have a few options and should all be nice and easy!! Now I just need to get it all made, cooked and in the fridge by 5.30pm when DH wants me to go into work to help out as we have heaps of HUGE orders already
