Question From highchair to table & chair?

    Hi guys,

DD#1 is almost 2 and I've been wondering when I should make the transition from highchair to a little table & chair for meals.

ATM its more convenient to leave her in the highchair so I can feed DD#2 or eat in peace but is that just being slack?!

When did you pack up the highchair for your little one?

    TIA

I went straight from highchair to a booster seat with armrests that sat in nice and close to the table. I did it at around 2 with my first, and about 14months with the second. It worked well for us.

We stopped using a high chair just after Claire turned 1. She was using a chair & table at daycare, so we got a small chair and table for her for home because she seemed to prefer it. She still does use a high chair at my parents place though.

We have a small table and chairs which we use during the day for Nina, and at dinner time she sits at the table with us. Occassionally she'll ask to sit in the highchair, but not often. Some kids tend to keep leaving the table to play, others don't. Nina doesn't, but that's because she enjoys her food too much

DS hasn't used a hight chair since he was about 1. We have an Ikea little table and chair set he sits at, or he sits at the big table on a dining chair with us (he started that at about 18mths). He sat on the yellow pages () for about a month but now he is big enough to sit normally.

we had a space saver high chair and one day for some reason we just sat ashton in a normal chair to have his meal. Went to sit him in the high chair the next day and he lost the plot big time. So he has been sitting at the table in a normal chair since just after 2yrs old

Thanks guys - I must add that we dont actually own a dining table (we're in a small townhouse!) so that makes it more of an issue I guess!
We do have a little ikea table & chair set, we just haven't put it up yet. Might get it out and see how we go!

It's funny. Kids do stuff you wouldn't expect. We went to Adelaide at the start of this week and the restaurant we went to didn't have a high chair. I was freakin' out. I just sat him on the chair at the table with us. He was just like a little person. He sat there and ate his dinner. This kid keeps putting his anal mother in her place!!

When we came home I put him in the high chair, but took the tray off, so that he is at a good height. He eats his dinner off a placemat (the same one I had when I was his age) with his mother and father. It's nice.

He does eat at little tables and chairs at day care and the kids all handle those very well. So the little table and chairs is a great idea. I'd recommend setting it up!! She'll surprise you!
