Question How many loads of washing do you do a day?

There are 4 kids and 2 adults in our house and I'm doing at least 6 loads a day...

Just interested in what everyone else does, cause I think mine is excessive.

I do 2 lots of towels, swimming and shower (the kids use a new towel with every swim and shower *sigh*), 2 loads of dark clothes, 1 load of whites and 1 load of baby clothes. Every couple of days I will have a few delicates to go through and the sheets as well.

I just can't keep up anymore and seem to be drowning in dirty laundry.

We have 5 and I can normally do a load a day, but it would be 2 x half loads. with clothes and towels.

We also have clean towels for every shower/bath that happens can't stand to hang them up and reuse later.

I don't seperate my darks and whites though, they all just get thrown in together. If i buy something new where I think the colour may run then i do a seperate handwash first. We don't really where a lot of "light" colours anyway, having 4 boys in the house

How big is your machine, we have a 7.5kg. Upgraded from a 5kg when we had Ashton.

    Love

hmm.. i probably average 2 loads a day. Which means 3 or 4 some days, none on another hehe. That includes nappies. All our clothes are washed together. Towels are re-used. Sheets aren't changed as often as they should be

I do try and do at least one load a day to try and keep on top of it.

First thing I'd do in your situation is lock up the clean towels and only replace the dirty ones every few days! Make sure there's enough towel rails to allow the towels to dry between uses (this is why DH insists on having the heated towel rail on.. else he'd probably use loads of towels too)

    I do 8 loads a week so far... 2 adults 1 toddler

    Wednesday
    1 light load
    1 dark load
    1 nappy load

    Saturday
    1 light load
    1 dark load
    1 nappy load
    1 bedding load
    1 towel load

I don't think the next baby will add too much to the washing except in nappies, I can see another 2 loads of nappies a week when he goes into the MCN's.

Wow, is this what I'm in for? I don't have enough washing to even come close to doing one load a day - okay baby's not here yet...but this thread has scared me! Towels for the shower don't need to be washed after one use! You are sparkling clean when you use them!! I wash mine after 3 showers.
Most times I struggle to fill the machine and feel bad putting on a load coz of the water wastage!

Jeepers.. i dont do nearly as much as you all.
I wash every 2-3 days.. sometimes even longer. Just depends when im home. I just try to get a full load each time to save water and electricity. But on those days that usually just consists of whites and baby clothes.. darks.. colours. I'll then do sheets & towels maybe every 1-2 weeks.

With 1 adult, and 2 kiddies, I think I average about 1 load per day. (though I usually let it build up, and then do 3 or 4 in one day, or as needed).
I'm another that doesn't wash towels after each use, and should probably wash sheets more often LOL.

I'd say I do about 1 load a day on average but sometimes that means 3 loads in one day.

We have two adults and one toddler.

I'm with you Hollye - I reuse towels because you're clean when you dry yourself so in theory they're just wet, not dirty. When DSD lived with us she was a bugger for getting a new towel for each shower so I ended up giving her two towels and hiding the rest in my wardrobe.

But yep, I don't wash sheets, doona covers nearly as much as I should.

i tend to do two a day, one of clothes (i just dump in all our clothes from the previous day) and usually one of tea towels/floor towels/hankies and facewashers - this one is not an overly large load, but i do try to do it everyday, so that i dont get an overflowing basket.

i cringe at the thought of washing towels after each use you're clean when you come out of the shower, then hang them up to dry... i change ours once a week, usually thursday, then i change all our bedding on saturday/sunday

I do 2-3 a day, but we have a tiny 4kg washer and one of those loads will be a half-load of nappies. I do the towels once a week or sooner if they are smelly or grotty looking.

I average 2 loads a day, but weekends can be more as we go through a lot of towels and togs since we put a pool in. Some days can be up to 4 loads, depending on whether I'm washing sheets and towels that day. We have 5 people in our house.

Bath towels get washed every 3 days, all sheets washed twice a week (for 4 beds, 2 queen, 2 single - usually wash the single beds ones same day, the queen sets the other days).

I normally do 2-3 loads a day. There is two adults and two babies in our household. I do a load of nappies every day and then alternate a day of baby stuff and then a day of DH & my stuff. Then about every third day I do a load of towels, and change the sheets once a week.

Usually only either 1 or 2 loads. Most of the time it's every second day.
Depends on what we've been doing, and if we're at home.

I don't seperate colours either. We have hardly any light clothes.

We probably average 2 loads a day. We have a 7kg machine. There are 2 adults, 1 teen and and 2 children in our house.

I agree that washing a towel after every use is excessive. My water bill would probably be double if we did that. I grew up on farms with tank water which was too precious for waste. We wash towels when needed... usually about every 3/4 days. I wash all our sheets every Monday. I separate colours fastidiously and only use cold water with darks to prevent the colour fading.

Our grey machine water is collected into a wheelie bin and then used to water our rose gardens... the suds are good for keeping pests and diseases at bay apparently.
