When Can I expect to feel my baby kick???

    Good Aftermoon All,

I hope you are all enjoying this great weather on this glorious saturday.

I am 14wks pregnant and was just wondering if anyone can tell me approx when I will feel my baby kick or move or something. I have had feelings of butterflies and other little feelings, but when will the baby actually kick??

Many Thanks for your advice in advance.

    Regards,

    Childondaway

I got my first really clear kick at 16 weeks, 3 days. Just lying in bed in the morning talking to my belly and just being silly, I jiggled my belly with my hand and went 'helloo? anyone in there?!' and was kicked hard enough that I felt it through my belly on my hand! Try as I might to move, jiggle, deep breathe etc. to inspire another kick there was just the one. I then felt nothing for 4 days which really freaked me out! I understand some women don't feel anything until 20 weeks or so, but hopefully you won't have to wait that long.

it really depends on where your placenta is laying and which way your baby is facing. i've been lucky enough to have strong and distinct movements since 16 weeks ("vague" movements since 9.5 weeks) - but i have an posterior placenta (placenta is against the back of my uterus) and i know from previous procedures that i have a very sensitive uterus for things like that. My hubby has been feeling external movement since about a week after that. for a lot of people, distinct movement doesn't happen until well into the 20+weeks. this is especially common if you have an anterior placenta (one at he front of your uterus) as the placenta doesn't have the nerve endings and cushions the kicks - so you have to have bubba kick extra hard to get the movement strong enough to get through the placenta as well

Hi Childondaway, maybe from 20 weeks you should feel some kicks.. they will start out soft and get progresivly stronger. Is this your first ? 14 weeks and feeling the fluttering, your pretty lucky not many first time mums feel anything till around 20 -22 weeks.
I felt the flutters at 13 - 14 weeks but this is my third.
Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

I first felt Sam move (more like little nudges rather than kicks) around 17 weeks & strong enough for DH to feel around 19 weeks. Not long now - you will be feeling Bub move very soon. Enjoy - it's such a beautiful feeling.

I first felt ds move at about 10 weeks. Then he didn't do it again for ages. From about 14 weeks he would only kick me when I was driving

By week 20 they should be coming hard and fast

I first felt DS move at 13 weeks. This one still has a way to go before I feel it.

Although morning sickness is still present, being pregnant is the best feeling!!

With Natalie I didn't feel anything really until about 19 weeks. With this one it was about 16 weeks. The interesting thing I found last time was that I first felt strange indistinct movements, then after a few weeks it was kicks and hiccups and shoves, then by the end you could tell she was running out of room - she just rolled her bum back and forth
All good fun. I'm looking forward to feeling what this one's going to do. Enjoy!

Here's hoping you get a big kick in the guts really soon... heheheh, I think that's the first time I've ever wished anyone a kick in the guts!!

I'm not sure if this'll help, but I've barely been drinking caffeine - like maybe one cup of weak instant coffee per week. When I do have one, it has quite a strong effect on me, and bubs tends to go nuts for about 15 mins, wriggling and kicking away in there! The other things that I notice really get her going are: really cold drinks / ice-cream / gelati, and if I'm really active for a while (vaccuming, chasing the dog around etc.) and then lie down on the couch.

I was also surprised as to where I felt the movement and found that I'd been 'looking' in the wrong place. I expected the movement to be around my navel area, but in my case (just coz of the way bubs likes to lie), most of the wriggling is right at the bottom of my pelvis so I can feel it best if I place my hand resting at the top of the line of pubic hair(!!).

I felt the first strong movements with my first one at 17 weeks - if your placenta is attached to the front wall of your uterus, that can cushion it and you might not feel anything until a bit later. Shouldn't be long now though!

Wow, all you ladies are so lucky to have felt movements so early! I didn't get a kick until just over 20 weeks, and before that I hadn't felt anything that I could definitely say was the baby moving. It varies a lot by the sounds of things. If you're already feeling flutters, a kick can't be too far off!

I am 16 weeks this week and I have just started feeling some 'fluttering' in my abdomen area. It has only really happened twice but i am positive it is bub. I was told if you feel some butterflies or some fluttering that it is bub doing summersaults
