AJP - Huge hugs hon. I really know how you feel. Although my DD has been more of a daddys' girl but it still hurts especially at this time just before you have another bub.

My DD always rejects me and it was really bad just before I had Loren and then unfortunately worse after she came along.

I tried not to take it personally. I just played with her as much as I could , made sure I did certain uninterupted rituals with her like bedtime/story time/bath time. I gave her a cuddle when she let me, and made a big deal out of how much I loved her cuddles.

Tip for when bub comes: Whenever you have to leave an activity with DD because bub needs you, always tell her what you are doing and give her a hug and say you love her before you go and get the bub!!

I've been thinking almost similar thoughts - although DD doesn't know I'm 10 weeks pregnant (DD is only 11mths).

When it comes to feeding she's an angel for her father, for me she's a terror; when I pick her up she hits me (playfully) but she doesn't when DP holds her! But I've noticed a change over the last two days when DP has been at work and she hasn't had the chance but to be with me lol!

Maybe do 'story time' with her / or light activities where you don't get too exhausted. Does DD sorta understand a baby is on its way? Could she be feeling a bit unsure of where she'll 'fit' into the family when your bubba comes along? (Sorry, I don't have a child your DD's age so I'm not sure how understanding they can be at that age )...

It happened for us too when I was around 7-8 months pregnant, and not able to move around as much. I loved it though... I loved having the break and time to rest my weary hips.

I can guarantee it changes again, especially when you are breastfeeding #2! I think one thing that saved us was giving one on one time everyday with both parents. So that neither child felt left out at anytime.

    Oh hun
She loves you more than anything in this world because you are her mummy. Maybe she is just seeing it now that yeh daddy is able to play with me. I dont think she is rejecting you. Are you able to have different quiet times with her, maybe read a book?
When bubs comes i would just try and include her as much as possible. Ask her if she can get a new nappy or a blanket for baby. Let her feel like the baby is her baby too.
But id say thats all it is hun.. you are doing a great job and she loves you very much ok, dont ever forget that

AJP - I am sure she loves and adores you. She's just being a kid. One day she'll probably get super clingy - and like others have said - that will probably be when the other baby comes.

Probably at the moment she knows she can have you anytime she wants, but when that luxury is gone her mind might work differently. She may not be able to "have her cake and eat it too" as much.

Being a mum is hard!! I'm used to be rejected by my DS. He's a man's man. Only likes to hang with his grandpas and dad. Mum is good when he has something sore, is hungry and/or wants a cuddle. In July/August I fear he is in for the shock of his life!! Mum's not going to be so "on tap".

It will get better, although you may feel rejected...don't, its nothing you've done all kids just have a better relationship with one parent, usually the parent who spends more time with the child but if your preg you prob find you can't play as easier as before and your more tired etc. My daughter got a lil distant late in my preg and just after bubs was born but now shes back to being a mummy's girl

I have the opposite problem! DD won't leave me alone and won't let DP do ANYTHING for her even when she knows that I can't do certain things anymore. She is like a limpet and will just not leave my side. I don't know which is worse - to be rejected or to not be able to rest I hope it gets better!!!

I'd say it'd just be a phase, a while back, like Nai we had the prob where DD was just so clingy to me, even crying for ages if I went to work, never had cried like that. Now day to day she has her own favorite. I told her off the other morn and all I heard all day was "want daddy".

Im hoping it's a phase too. Since I was heavily pg with no2, DD has seriously favoured being with her Dad. Initially I think it's cause he's so much fun (Im the one who has to be practical!) but also the fact that he was home for 6 weeks post DS' birth, and so looked after her every need, cause I was busy with the baby.I'm pretty much like chopped liver when DP is around. Everything has to be done by Daddy, and I do mean everything! She'd good as gold with me when he's at work etc, but as soon as he's around...whole different story. Sometimes it really upsets me, but for the most part I know it's fairly temporary, and it means I get a bit of a break.
Try not to take it personally,I think it just means she's secure in her relationship with you, and knows you'll always be there when she needs you.

I wish DS would do this!

BTW, AJP, we don't have the telling off problem because we have the rule that if you tell of Liebling then you comfort him (and if DH tells DS off and he comes to me I give him back, just as if I tell of DS and he goes to DH then DH gives him to me). This isn't to stop us telling him off, it's to make him realise that we still love him even when we enforce a rule. It works because when we tell him off now and he cries he comes up to us for a cuddle!

Hmmm. I don't think he's sneaky enough yet to use this as a way of getting more cuddles, not that he needs/wants them, but may have to evaluate this policy.
