What should I was my newborns clothes in?

    Hi All,
Bubby 2 is nearly here and I am packing my hospital bags today/tomorrow... with DS I washed in Lux soap, but it doesn't always dissolve and is a bit of a hassle... what did you wash your newborns clothes in?

    Thanks,

    Wink

Yeh me too LUX FLAKES ... i know it's a hassle ... I would dissolve in a plastic tub in the laundry trough with boiled water from the kettle & stir with a wooden fork & wait about 15mins for the Lux Flakes to properly dissolve

Sorry i have no other option or alternative product ... hope someone else does

I use lux flaxes too - i love the smell, even though they are a hassle (waiting to dissolve etc). I could almost eat them (a pregnancy thing).

I found i washed the newborn clothes separately for the first 4-6 weeks then i just chucked their clothes in with ours after a while.......

I use lux flakes too - like everyone else they are a pain but smells so nice and makes those bonds suits nice and soft!
After the box is fininshed I usually just used our normal washing powder and cuddly fabric softner.
There are heaps of sensitive skin powders out there - just a matter of finding the right one.

Gotta agree, I did some washing yesterday in Lux and to me it really is that 'newborn' smell! Think I will stick with Lux...

Thanks for your advice though xx

Yeah, I just use a liquid laundry detergent for sensitive skin, Amolin or something... I use liquid detergents for all our laundry except hubby's work clothes because I once used a brand that left big white powdery streaks all over my black clothes, the liquid stuff dissolves so much easier and can still be used for soaking etc, so I haven't looked back.
There are plenty in your local supermarket so you can compare brands as far as cost, environmentally-conscious etc and make your own decision, and if bubs has a reaction to one just switch brands and you should be right!

My mum washed all DD's newborn stuff before she was born (we got lots of hand-me-downs from friends) in just Napisan, so there's another option if you don't want to be buying two or three different laundry things just for bubs.

Me too MrsC_Aussie ... I was the same when i was preg ... i had absolutley NO idea & washed all the clothes for bubba-to-be in normal detergent ... then thankfully my friend of 18years said to me "I hope you have washed all the baby clothes in Lux Flakes" ... And i said "What the heck are darn Lux Flakes"

Lets just say *everything* got rewashed in Lux Flakes ... augh

^ I'm pretty sure it's fine to wash them in whatever your normal laundry powder/detergent is, it's just that some poor bubs have very sensitive skin that doesn't like certain brands, so to be on the safe side I used a sensitive detergent until we'd established that DD has no problems with sensitive skin!! It would be awful to get bub dressed to go home from hospital, only to get home with a big rash and have to put on loads of laundry as well as contend with establishing feeding, getting around sleepless nights and all the rest of the lovely, exhausting tasks newborns hand to us!

Oh no, with DS I never knew about Lux until the wisdom on 'Mum' (my Mum that is) who said... "So you are washing everything in Lux? until then I had no idea, except that I have sensitive skin and have to be careful about what brand powder I use!!!

    Gotta love Mums!
