Am I receiving the right amount?

My DF works as a casual and his wage can go up and down. When it goes up past a certain point, $769/fortnight, my PPP goes down. I get most of FTB A and FTB B, because my ex gets 35%.

My friend earns about $2500 a fortnight, and his wife gets FTB and PPP. Why is that?

The limit for PPP is around $1300 per fortnight. FTBb extends further than that, but it is only $56 once you are ineligible for PPP. I think your friend is either under reporting or claiming the wrong payment.

People lie their asses off all the time, she could even be claiming as a sole parent or totally undereporting. There is no way they are eligible for PP with that wage.

I know she's not lying or anything. My friend is in the Defence Force. Would that change what his wife gets?

I don't know whether she's getting the right payment or if she's confused about the names of the payments as alot of people are. We earn way way way below what your friend earns a fortnight and we don't qualify for PPP.

The only pay that does not need to be reported is tax free. Is he in reserves or full time defence?

He is in full time Defence.

Then his pay would be fully taxable and should all be reported. Reserves don't have to report but normal do.

Maybe you better ask her is she is recieving the correct amount. If there has been some sort of mistake she will be in debt big time - and that SUCKS.

From what he told me, they report the income at the beginning of the financial year, and his wage hasn't changed since then. And they've given Centrelink all the info they required. I'll chat to him again and find out more.

    Thanks for your replies.

I would certainly do that *****ly one. The only yearly reporting of income is for FTB. From that info, there is no way they are entitled to PP in any way, shape or form. They must get on to this straight away to clear it up or they will be paying back the debt. And any debt over $5000 is proscecutable....

i'm thinking maybe it's a communication issue - reporting income at start of year (unless he's self employed and shows tax return) doesn't happen with PPP - i'm thinking your friend is confused and calling FTBA family tax, and FTBB parenting payment as they go in seperately. if she isn't working, she'd get max FTBB so may think it's the same as the PPP

My PP is one payment, and rent assistance and FTBa and FTBb are another payment.

They have three children, 1, 5 and 6. He did mention parenting payment and tax benefit. Perhaps he's not entirely sure himself. He's been sent to Victoria to help, so I'll have a good chat to him when he returns. I'll let you know what he says later.

if you have a look at your bank statement, your ftba and rent assistance will be one payment, ftbb is another, ppp is a third
