    Negative OPK's

I have had negative OPK's for the last two days (as in the test line is lighter than the control line) but I have had EWCM for the last two days as well and it is around the time I have ovulated in the past. Is it possible I am ovulating even if the OPK's are negative, I still am not confident telling the difference between CM and sperm (sorry if TMI!!) I know what they are meant to look like, but actually telling the difference is a different story.

My temps are extremely erratic, I can't see any pattern there as yet - I had my implanon removed about a month ago, my period returned after about a week, so I assumed that meant my cycle was back to normal.

Anyone able to shed any light at all??

    Hi Min,

I have never had too much luck with OPK's (i always tend to get negative results even though I know through temping and CM that I have O'd). However I believe that the difference between sperm and cm is that the fertile cm (ie EWCM) is more clear and stretchy. It should usually stretch between 1 and 2 cm's and not break. Sperm I think is more whitish and and is more likely to break when pulled. I hope that this helps, perhaps there are others out there who could shed some more light.

    Good luck.

How many times are you testing a day? What time? I always found i got +opks around 7-8pm of an evening...rather than 2pm in the arvo. Its a small window of oppourtunity that these OPKs will give us....its a matter of catching the +opks in the right 24-48hr time frame - KWIM????

    Hi Min,

I'm another one who never had much luck with OPKs either. Mine would never get as dark as the control line, even when I was having tracking with BT's and knew full well that my LH was surging But what I did find was that it helped to compare the darkness of the lines from day to day - I would usually get an OPK on one day that was darker than the rest (but still not as dark as the control), and that coincided with a temp rise the next day confirming that O had occurred.

    I HTH and good luck!

Thanks ladies - I actually got lucky today, I did 2 OPK's because I thought I stuffed the 1st one up and both of them the test line was the same shade if not a tiny bit darker than the control, so it seems to match up with my previous O timeframes - although still have no idea what my temps are doing, neither does FF it seems!!
