When did your partner/other people feel your baby move?
Hi Everyone,
I'm just wondering when your partner/hubby or other people feel your baby move? I have been feeling the baby move for about 6 weeks now (almost 22 weeks) but my husband is desparate to feel her kick and hasn't been able to feel anything yet. I feel really bad for him as sometimes it seems like we get all the attention when pregnant and our poor partners aren't part of the experience aswell...
I'm at 25 weeks now and have been feeling bubs regularly for about 10 weeks. DH felt her move about 2 weeks ago and DD and family and friends have been able to feel bubs this week. But with DD in my first pregnancy DH didn't feel her until I was past 7 months :-(
i was surprisingly early in feeling Gremlin move (9.5 weeks - lived in denial that it was her for about 4 weeks but it kept up!) - DH was able to feel her at 16.5weeks. i have a posterior placenta so nothing there to "cushion" the kicks. she now actively chases my hand, hides from hubby's - and thrives on kicking daddy in the head while he listens to her wriggling around in my tummy...
my niece (4) felt her when i was about 24 weeks, my mum at about 25 weeks, and my other niece (8) at about 26 weeks. my SIL has seen her kick a few times, and their cat has copped a kick or five to the head (he just won't learn!)
i did a course on Black Saturday (calmbirth) and the woman taking the course was saying how a friend of hers was very excited as he'd finally felt bubba move at 34 weeks! it is so very variable. the anterior placenta is a bit thing to preventing feeling it from the outside. i think we, as the mum, are more likely to feel it earlier cos we can feel from the inside and outside and KNOW that what we felt on our hand was indeed the same as what we felt inside kwim?? i also thought a smaller person would feel external movement earlier than a larger lady - but as a larger lady, i've debunked my own theory on that one...
I felt bub at about 20 weeks, and DH felt at about 22. I expect to go to the inlaws tonight with them expecting to feel bub moving too! Hopefully he puts on a show.
Have you tried laying on our back when bub is kicking and letting your partner try and feel bub move? I find that is the best way and you can feel all the movement really well on your back. It has been the only way my parnter has felt bub move.
I felt my baby move at 19 weeks and that same day DH had his hand on my stomach while we watched TV. He said that if I hadn't told him what it was he would have assumed it was digestion because the movement wasn't easy to detect. My placenta is anterior.
Now the baby is very active and today it rolled over and i could see my belly moving.
I think in the end it comes down to timing. Other days he has tried to feel it and the baby stopped moving every time he put his hand on my belly.
This is my first pg and I felt bub move when I was around 15-16 weeks, DP felt him move at about 18 weeks, family felt him kick when I was 20 weeks It started off that he was only active in the late afternoon, but now he is active most of the day.
I agree its all about timing. Most of the time bubs only kicks when Im by myself and when someone eventually goes to feel him, he will stop lol
this is my first & i felt some movements around 15 weeks. i didn't feel proper kicks until closer to 20 weeks & it's only been in the last couple of weeks that DP has been able to feel anything (too much padding on my tummy!). for a while i would feel kicking & as soon as i'd tell DP, the kicking would stop but now it's different & if he pushes on my belly then the baby will usually kick back.
no one else has felt anything yet - mostly because i haven't offered! i feel a bit weird about offering to other people to see if they can feel (not sure if they'd want to!) and i don't think i'm the sort of person that other people feel they can just touch (which is fine by me! ).
With my first bub, I didn't feel him move internally until I was about 21 weeks. DH felt him move from the outside a couple of weeks later. It seems first babies can take longer to be felt!
This time with bub #3, DH has been able to feel him/her move since 18 weeks. Much earlier than the first time around
Don't worry, your DH will get to feel lots of gorgeous kicks really soon and will do so for the rest of your pregnancy. It won't be long now!
I felt peanut around 16 weeks, and DH felt it a couple of weeks after that. I also have a posterior placenta so I think that really helps with other people feeling it, we can also see movements too. When I feel peanut kicking I always get DH to press on the spot but a lot of the time it stops.... this weekend we discoverd the best trick which now keeps us well entertained!!! I was leaning a glass of ice water on my tummy while lounging around on the couch, it must have been right on peanut as it started kicking lots and you could see the glass and the water moving up and down. Now when i eat ice we get nice big kicks, I always wait until I know where Peanut is get DH ready then eat! Give it a go!!!
I felt Shortstack kicking/moving at about 15 weeks.
I could feel the kicks on the outside at 18 weeks.
DH felt the odd kick at 20 weeks but not all of them & only if he pressed hard.
Now just a week and a half later he can feel every kick & movement. It's amazing the difference just one week makes.
This morning Shortstack was going wild in there but when DH put his hand on me of course bubs stopped!! He also kicks the cats when they sit on my belly but they either don't notice or don't care.
I've only seen movement once - at 18 weeks he pushed his head or bum right up & I could see a lump on my left hand side!!
Thanks for all your replies girls. I tried all your suggestions and of course the cheeky little thing stayed completely still. But then this morning, out of nowhere, she finally decided to put on a show for DH. Funny how they seem to have a mind of their own already
I first felt bubs move for sure when I was 19 weeks. I had been feeling a few things for a couple of weeks before hand, but wasn't sure it was bubs because they definately weren't those fluttery feelings everybody talks about. Anyway, DH first felt bubs kick at 22 weeks. I was suprised he felt it so early, I had been expecting to wait till 25 or 26 week.
From 22 weeks on the kicks just got stronger and stronger and you began to see my tummy move when bubs was kicking. I think once it starts it's on for young and old.
I do find however that when I am lying on my back or my side every kick can be felt on the outside. If I'm upright it is only the stronger ones that make an impact!
I'm just about 22 weeks, and i've been feeling bub move from around 14 weeks (strange because it's my first, thats early, and i'm a bigger girl to begin with, but oh well). Dp hasn't felt Peanut move yet because everytime he's moving, if you put a hand anywhere on my tummy, he goes still. Like performance anxiety or something. Lol.
But last night, after a week or two of me seeing it, Dp finally looked at the right time to see my tummy moving and flinching from bubby moving around and kicking. YAY!! finally. haha
He had this huge grin on his face, hehe.
And i've noticed when ever Dp laughs bub starts to move around and kick. So we were sitting on the couch telling jokes getting Dp to laugh so bub would move. Haha
Special family night for me
