Really common. And ouchy! Do all those things that will keep your poop nice and get-outable, like eating fibre, kiwifruit, sultanas...what else does it? And DRINK!!! Water water water! If you're breastfeeding, and recovering from birth, you will get easily dehydrated and that is a big part of the problem. So for the meantime avoid diuretic drinks (which encourage water to leave your body) like tea, coffee, coke and focus on water, cordial, juice (if you're bfing too much OJ can give bub nasty acidic nappy rash, trust me I learned the hard way with my first bub!), and milky drinks.

If it's really that bad, you might need to nick to the chemist/supermarket for something like metamucil or a suppository.

Sounds like you are a little dehydrated. Pear juice works a treat - supermarkets sell it in a bottle and it works fairly quickly to help soften things up.

AHH! Sam! You brilliant woman, I forgot about pear juice! I drank heaps after my second bub (it was over a year ago in my defence), and it was great. At my local stores it came in a tin, for some reason.

The pain could be from other things such as a hemorrhroid or a fissure. Very common after birth. They often resolve on their own, but sometimes need medical attention. If it persists or you have alot of bleeding i'd go to drs.

I am not surprised it hurts if you had to have a few stitches. It will take a bit of time to heal properly. ouch! Until then, high fibre diet will help.
If it is really, really excruciating, you should go and talk to you dr. especially given you had a bit of trauma.

Oh. So if you tore your anus and they needed to sort you out, that would do it. Did you have to go back for follow up appts so they can make sure you're healing well?
Maybe if you're not sure, you can go back and ask someone to check things out? Don't feel embarrassed, better to get it checked out if you're worried.

    but its inside ...
Do you mean you get bad cramps in your bowels before you do a poo? Similar to period pain but it kind of ripples across your whole stomach?

If so, I have not found ANYTHING to avoid it. Fibre doesn't help because it makes bowels move more often, so more pain. Also that once I need to go I neeeeeed to go. The pain inside is ridiculous and only goes away after?

i have had this since DD was born almost 2 years ago and found no relief from it at all.

do u get the nauseated feeling with it aswell?
If by that you mean am I going to vomit every time I am doing my business? I have to have a bucket with me in the loo now, WTH?

Yeah, gas too. A more balanced diet and healthy eating (= more bowel movements) has only made things worse.
