girls name - is it too popular

I really like the name zoe - does anyone know how popular is it at the moment? Other girls name options are Karla, but I much prefer Zoe...thoughts....

I think Zoe is popular at the moment. I know someone who's just named her daughter Zoe. Still its a very pretty name and I dont think its being overly used. Karla is nice too. I havent met a Karla recently....

I would stick with the name you love - each child is unique and will make their name their own IYKWIM!
I have a Zoe and she is a spunk - so I may be a bit biased!

I've got a Zoe!! There is another Zoe in her prep class, and when she was in Kindy there was also another Zoe. I think you should just go with the name because you love it.

I agree, go with a name you love if it is the absolute stand out.

Although I really wanted to avoid a popular name as I didn't like the idea of my DD being one of many similar named kids in her class (as a teacher I used to hate having to say to children, Lauren B this or Lauren W that... it just feels so impersonal to not be able to use their name) But this is just my opinion . In the end I really really loved a particular name and went with it only to find it turn up for the first time on the most popular list for our State . Ah well! I am happy with it and we have tweaked it a little anyway with a nickname variation!

Anyway... point is, go for it. (and if you are interested you can look up the list of 10, 20 or 50 most popular names for kids registered with the office of Births, Deaths and Marriages for each year going back eons. It might give you a real idea of how popular Zoe is at the moment and in the last years... just google "popular names [your state]" or "births deaths marriages popular names")

I don't think the popularity of a name is an issue. Your child will be an invidivual...different to all the other Zoe's out there. A name is just a name. You could call her "Ham Sandwich" and she'd still be a beauitful little person with a character and personality all of her own.

If Zoe is what you like, then go for it.

I like both Zoe and Karla. In my life I have only ever known one of each (that I can recall anyway). I think of the two that I prefer Zoe.

I like Zoe. I don't think it's overly popular here, it's a bit more popular in America and is common in a few spellings especially Zoey.

I really like Karla too, it's one of my favourites.

There is a website about names in Australia and has links to popularity charts for most states. If you google 'onomastics anonymous' it comes up 2nd or 3rd I think.

Zoe is lovely. I know a few Zoe's my age and a few Zoe babies. It's a gorgeous name.

Of Zoe and Karla I do prefer Karla. I knew a Karla in school and she was stunning and such a personality!

They are both lovely - good luck choosing
