Just curious as to how many of you have a tattoo on your ribs?
I am getting one for my birthday and I want it on my ribs (will be getting it there regardless of how much it will probably hurt )
If you do have one there;
Did it hurt much? (I know everyone has a different pain threshold)
How big is it?
What's the best way you can lay/sit to last the duration of getting it done?
Just after experiences, tips and ideas to get through it
I already have 7 tattoos, wrists, forearm, thigh, hip, ankle, back of my hand/base of thumb. But this will probably be my biggest one/comes close to the size of the one on my thigh.
I've got a big piece on the left side of my ribs, it's a Japanese pea****, and it took about 6hours to do.
I'm not going to lie - the pain was awful and by far the worst of all my tats (I've got a full back, both legs from hip to ankle and my left foot). I started off sitting up with my left arm above my head then after the first smoke break I lay down on my right side completely stretched out.
I was completely topless throughout and spent a week in a bikini top while it healed. Wearing a bra was awkward as the top of the pea**** comes up onto my left boob a bit.
It healed really well and if my back wasn't so bad I'd have the other side of my ribs done but I've torn a ligament in my back and can't lie on my left side at the moment.
Was that with getting colour done too?
I will just be getting the outline done for the moment
I'm hoping I will be able to lay down through mine, I get a back ache if I sit in one position too long
I love my Japanese leg - my tattooist specializes in Japanese work and I gave him some ideas of what I wanted and let him have fun. I'm getting some more work in the inside of the leg when my backs better.
Ms_Fi, your tattoos are fantastic. I'm absolutely loving them all. That pea**** is just so pretty. My DH & I have often wondered what the tattoos are like from the place you got yours done at, now we have an idea! DH works just up the road from them so it would be one of our closest tattooists!

I have an old school swallow on my ribs the size of my hand. I lie on my side the whole time with my shirt pulled up and it wasn't too bad. I laugh during pain which made it hard at first but we managed it. I sat for 2 hours.
I'd love to see it when it's done - I'm booked in for 3 weeks time and I'm do excited. Haven't been since Christmas and I'm getting withdrawal symptoms!!
