Any tips using a heat curler?

Bought one on a whim today, only cost me $20 - I've only got a just below ear length bob - but thought I might be able to acheive that 'Samantha Who' style curls - if you know that show.

Anyone got one, how do I do it - doesn't really give any directions!

OMG this is gonna sound hysterical coming from a curly haired person but i had a friend show me how to do *better* curls with a curling rod (mini size one bought from Priceline a few years ago) ... the trick was to start at the end of a big clump/strand of hair and twirl the curling rod until the hair is wrapped around it quite tight (make sure not to burn the ears, etc ..) and hold it without the hair loosening for a few seconds then instead of unwrapping the hair curl from the rod, let go of the tong leaver and ' slip' the rod slowly downwards until it's out of the curl ... and PRESTO nice curl

I too have very curly hair but often straighten and then recurl my hair lol. One thing I always do is give a quick spray of hairdpray over each section of hair right when i go to curl it, keeps the style in longer. Also the smaller amount of hair you use and longer you hold the wand in place the tighter curls you will get, so big bit of hair is looser larger curls...hope that helps, have fun
