Would anyone know the cost (roughly) of contact lenses? I wear glasses for long distances (so im short sighted?) and was thinking of looking into them..
I wear contacts for short sightedness, and they cost about $180 for a 3 month supply. I think the cost depends on a few things, like the quality of the lens you are getting, and also how much wear you get out of them (ie-dailies,weeklys, monthlys etc).
I have worn contacts for about 4 years now, and I love them! It couldnt hurt to have an appraisal done and see what your optometrist recommends and he/she can give you all the options cost wise.
Hth
Eta: Also once you have a prescription for contacts, there are lots of online discount places you can buy them from. I used to do that and found it alot cheaper, the only reason I stopped was they no longer stocked my script. And not sure if you have PHI, but I find they cover quite a bit of the cost too.
No PHC unfortunately; i also wanted to look into having surgery done; my eyes are relying on my glasses so much now; i hardly used to wear them now i wear them pretty much all day everyday; if i put them on n the morning i have to wear them all day as my eyes adjust to them but if i dont wear them in the morning i can usually get by the day without them.
So i either want to check out contacts or look into the surgery to correct my sight!
I put my contacts (or 'eyes' as i call them!) in first thing in the morning, and take them out right before bed time. I just cant see without them..lol!
I have considered surgery, but im too much of a wuss
i have just got contacts and i had to get so special ones as i have astigmatism and my eyes reacted to the normal ones- they work out $70 per eye for 3 months supply- so $140 every 3 months. The ones i have are monthly ones, but you cant wear them 24 hours a day, so i take them out to sleep.
love them!!!
looked into eyes surgery as well- its about $2K per eye
still considering it one day
my contacts need to be replaced every yr but i found them to be better than the disposables. even thou i have astigmatism in one eye, but i found the speciality lenses to be uncomfortable. before i got mine, i was given a few to try & see which i preferred, mebbe ask about that?
ive been considering surgery too, but heard you should hold out till late twenties as the eyes are still growing. Also dont forget, prescription can alter after giving birth too.
i hate my glasses (had them since grade3) but without them im blind im hoping none of my kids will have to go thru it like me...
wow so its pretty much like my glasses; i put them on when i drive to work then basically leave them on til i go to bed ... hmmm off to the optomitrist on the weekend i think!!
