DH had his designed by someone local to us. Well worth it. She worked closely with DH and was happy to change things as she would consult with DH after every 'stage'.
DH paid a deposit fee, and then when she finished the design and he was happy with it he paid the rest. He got it in a full colour design, and a back and white design. She designed it according to the size he wanted and for where he wanted it.

It was a bit pricey, but as I said - well worth it.

    ^^ Yeah that.

I'd get a local tattoo artist to design one for you. I want one as well... DD1's name somehow, but I'm not sure how.

Thanks guys, i'm just a bit worried that because I live in a small town the people here might not be good enough...does that sound snobby? I just think the bamboo will be really hard and well, its for life right so I want it the best it can be...

Do not just go to anyone for a tattoo. Check out some artists online that are well known, email them tell them what you want etc. And do it that way if you can't manage to get in ASAP.

Absolutely 100% agree with this ... I wish someone had have told me that with my first three tatts, I went to the same guy and they are the WORST jobs. Thankfully I found a reputable guy through a friend who is really heavily done and I have the most gorgeous back piece.

I don't think going out of your own town is such a bad thing either

So do you think i'd be able to correspond with an artist? Because i'm not 100% sure what I want...maybe I should get someone else to design it and then someone well known to actually do the tattoo?

Paying that initial artist as well of course...

Yeah thats one way to do it ... OR as Rouge suggested find an online tattooist or artist and have them design it for you. Agood tattooist will also work with you so if you find a place make an appointment to go and talk to them about what you want they should be able to draw something up from what you have said and then make any changes etc.

Ahhh so I can do it online without actually meeting them till the day?? Because I was thinking of going to Sydney or Melb (i;m in QLD now) for the day/weekend when I actually get it done.
