There was an article in a Cleo/Cosmo mag a couple of months ago that talked about Brand Loyalty and how there are many brands that it would seem alter thir sizes to get customer loyalty. I'll see if i still have it and write it up as it was really interesting. To the point where a s"elf-confessed size 12" could by a size 8 from store X and then a size 16 from store Y.

Totally hear you on wishing there was legislation!

i am in the process of getting back into shape after having bub and wanted to buy a pair of cheap jeans to last a month or 2 so went to Big W. I was a size 14 before bub so thought that i could get a 16 but the pair that i tried on i couldn't even pull up. So not to be discouraged by sizing i went back and got an 18 in that particular pair (supposed to be regular waist stretch) and also went to the larger clothes section and thought i'd get a size 18 from there. The first 18 was still tight but at least i could do it up, and the one from the larger section was falling down. I expect differences across brands and stores but not so much variance between things that are 5m apart in the same shop ended up walking out with nothing
