    Epilators

    Hi ladies,

I am sick of shaving but am unable to justify the cost of monthly leg and underarm waxing so am considering the purchase of an epilator.

    Do you use one?

If so which one? What are the pros and cons? Does it get less painful to use?

    Thanks in advance!

I don't mind it at all, its regular so OK. Just don't use it when you're pre-menstrual cause the skin's more tender then.

I don't use it for my underarm, that's worth the $15 to get waxed!

I have one - I cannot use it! lol
    It is WAAY too painful!

I get mime waxed - worth the money to have someone else do it, have it be quick, comparatively painless... I also didnt like the way they felt afterwards, kinda like really tiny goosebumps (?)

    God luck!

I have an emjoi and LOVE it! I use it for my legs & underarms - underarms are a bit ouchy at first but you get used to it. I rekon its worth it to not have to shave every second day!
I think theyre great cos the hair doesnt have to be very long to use it. ive tried other brands but think an emjoi is better

    Thanks ladies for your advice!

I bought myself a braun silk epil on the weekend (I am a sucker, both the emjoi and the braun were similar in price so i took the one that came with the free facial )

So far so good, it was not too painful, no ingrown hairs yet!

I realise you've bought one but I'll still put my 2c in for others!!

The only downer is the time it takes to do your legs...and it's not like you can read a book while you do it either.

Was going to ask if you were near a Tafe, I'm near Box Hill Tafe and their beauty students do ridiculously cheap waxes ($4 lip, $9 half leg, $15 full leg) as well as other beauty services. I gave up waxing due to my old salon's prices, but now go to the tafe instead. And the service is fantastic as they're supervised and eager to please, opposed to some qualified beauty therapists who have been doing it for years.

I have a Braun Silk epil. I like it more than shaving itchiness but you do have to be vigilant with exfoliating or you can get nasty ingrown hairs. It came with an attachment that is supposed to massage the skin at the same time and make it lass painful but i took it off cos I found it to be more painful!

It does get less painful with prolonged use. I find it best to do it when the hairs are quite short, that hurts less than when they have been left to get a bit 'feral'!

I do my underarms too. It killed at the start but persistence pays off and now it is quite tollerable (only when fairly short tho )
