they are chemicals.... but they are quite safe - otherwise it wouldn't be done.
Just as eyelash tints are a dye mixed with peroxide... quite safe. Funny enough, I read a peroxide bottle once that said you could use it as an eye bath! Don't think I would do that personally

I used to get it done years ago at Parramatta. I loved the look as I dont have long eyelashes. MY DH has long eyelashes - how I envy him! LOL.
I used to have a little eyecurler - it was a heated stick run on a battery. They are good.
