Hi gals, looking for some advice from all you fashionistas out there...
I work in a corporate environment. Suits, ties, its quite formal. Girls can be a bit more relaxed as in a full suit isn't required, but its still pretty formal. No open toe shoes for example.
I recently bought some new work clothes (yay me ) including a shift dress, a woollen dress (very pretty) and two new skirts. My problem is shoes!
I hurt my knee and can't wear heels. Thought I could, wore my pretty new woollen dress with a shirt underneath and my little snazzy ankle boots and paid the price - in agony with my knee until I made it to the physio three days later
So here's my question - can I wear flats with my suit skirts and dresses? If I go buy a new pair of flats, try and look for dressy ones, will that be ok? Appropriate?
Due to your knee problem it will be OK. An employer would prefer you are at work than the only reason you are off sick is due to a shoe issue.
Get some leather flats that are dressy as these will look nice with skirts or pants. Have a look at ones with a slight/tiny heel as I found these really comfortable after I did my ankle and could not wear heels. 6 months down the track I find I still need to wear the low heels if I have twinged the ankle.
Also have a look at your work dress code. Unless they state you have to wear heels they cannot say anything.
Remember if anything is said just tell them you will get a certificate to say you cannot wear heel at the moment.
Absolutely! I worked in the corporate world for years and wore a mixture of flats and heels depending on what mood I was in. There are some gorgeous, very stylish flats around these days and look great with skirts. I'm a shorty so I'd prefer heels but definitely couldn't wear them while pregnant (and still working) with DD. My flats looked lovely.
Have you tried a lower wedge heel? with the more even distribution of weight it might be ok with your knees. I have knee issues and they don't seem to flare up with wedges.
Otherwise some flat boots as suggested other flats could look ok too. Hard to tell without seeing you in the outfits though LOL
