    Smile Hairdresser advice needed NOW!

    He he!

O.K so I have decided to go back to brown from a deadset platinum bob. I have about 2 inches of mousy blonde regrowth. Obviously I have a great collection of HATS, but I can wait no longer.....

I am going to throw in a cool brown semi permanent tonight and I was wondering the best way to go about it.

Should I put in extra over the blonde? I totally understand this could be a disaster, and it's only semi permanent. The blonde is still in pretty good condition, but I know it will probably suck up the colour more than the rest. I intend to keep it short (a-la Victoria Beckham), and keep chopping out the over-processed bits until its all gone - but does anyone have some tips when it comes to adding the dark?

    Thanks in advance!

I think you need to add red first - when I have done it I have used a red semi then a brown dye....Good Luck!!!

you must add some red first otherwise you will end up with green hair...i have gone from platinum to dark myself and learnt the hard way!1

you can do it with some red toner from the chemist or a reddish colours dye. You know hoe the dyes have numbers. the first number from 1 - 10 refers to the base colours form blonde to to black....6 is a light brown wihich ismy natural colour for example 10 is usually white blonde. the next numbers refer to the higlight colours. you want these to have a 4 or a 5 or both in them...they refer to the two reds. For example it may say 6.45 or 6.4 or 6.5. That ensures you have red in the colour. If you want to cool brown try a red toner first then you can probably use whatever colour you like afterwards. Just make sure you get some red in there somewhere. You will probably have a redder highlight than you want to start with but it will fade and it is a lot better then green.

The brown I have is a Loreal natural frosted brown, the number is 5.15. Are the colour numbers universal in haircolourland?
I'm off to get a red toner, do I need to wait a certain time between treatments?

I was sooo close to a disaster, thank you so much!

Yes, it went well! I got the red toner and had pink hair to the delight of the kids. Put the brown in the next day. It's got a bit of a purple tinge, the blonde SUCKED the colour right up. I am going to put in another brown in tomorrow as there are a few blonde strands here and there, and it will be perfect.

I'm really happy with it, dark suits me better. I think that means I'm getting old....

Nah you aren't getting old.... just gaining more wisdom. When we are younger we just think that blonde hair suits us all when in fact it doesn't.... you get a little older and realise that you look best close to your natural shade.
