I use hairspray too. I either do the top and bottom ponytails or else pigtails and then I plait them.

Last week I put her hair up in one big ponytail but it had all fallen out by pick up time. She looked like she'd just got out of bed lol.

I'm loving the ideas here. I've actually given DD1 a half-decent hairstyle today!

There is a blog called Hair Romance - lots of videos and tutorials on how to braid and generally do rad stuff to hair - I want to try an upside down braid on DD but still working on normal ones!!!

Hey, sorry, I didn't mean to ignore all the replies. I use my phone all the time for internet and it is really difficult to scroll from posts to the reply I am typing. Today, I am at the library. ANd wow, doesn't the full size keyboard seem weird!

I would ask the hairdresser, except that I don't have one. Believe it or not. DD does like nice hair, and that's why I feel bad that I can't do more. I could do the messy buns.... They are supposed to be tidy, but will definitely turn out messy! Her 'fringe' is now long enough to tuck behind her ears. THe Man wants her to have very short hair, because of the heat, but then I can't do anything at all with it. And when she did have a little bob cut (like Dora), she would always say she wanted it plaited, or in pony tails, or SOMETHING please Mum!

Marydean, I think you are right about the secret Mummy club. When you find out how to join, let me know!

I will look online for the suggested searches, they should turn something up useful!

I did try the hairspray, though I'm not sure if it was any better, lol. SHe's also taken to pulling her pony tail out by the end of the day. Yep, truly a brilliant idea to do on 37-ish degree days, on a bus!

Hmm the heat up there is shocking in summer and although short hair would be nice it can be just as painful to keep tidy.
When we take the girls up there at easter i did two little pig tails the rolled them around themselves (al princess leia sp?) and the girls loved them and they actually stayed quite neat (and you've seen pics of my feral children when camping up there)

I am going to look at some youtube tutorials for ideas on DD1's hair too, try and figure out how to braid her fringe kind of thing
