Ok, so one of our festivals starts tonight, and in Jewish law the husband has to buy his wife clothing or jewellery etc., on the festivals. So this one i decided i was going to go out and buy myself some really nice good makeup to make me feel pretty instead.
I've been feeling very blurgh recently - i've put on so much weight post babies etc, and i just want to feel nice.
Ok, so i have around $250 to spend - what brands do i buy? I was thinking about going to like the MAC counter at myer and getting them to advise me, but will they show me proper ways to apply makeup etc?
I was thinking i should have makeup lessons, but they cost around that much, and then i won't have the money for actual makeup.
What brands do you recommend (I have EXTREMELY SENSITIVE skin, and i'm also very pale & freckly).??
I don't want to look like a movie start made up each day (some of them only seem to have very "out there" colours), i just wanted some nice everyday fresh look, and a slightly nicer going out in the evening colours.
Where would you go? To a department store, or more to like a makeup store like Napeloean etc?
Dept stores and Napoleon have trained their staff to be able to put make up on. I'd probably start at a dept store and see if there are any colours etc you like. I know Prescriptives will create a base especially for you.
I'm a bit partial to Chanel - I love their tinted moisturiser and mascara.
This is all I use now - you can really learn to apply it to give you a deeper cover or really very subtle.
I have very sensitive skin and this does not affect me at all - its really lovely. Smells so nice too.
But.... you can only get it on line. (dont know if that would turn you off)..... and I don't like the mascara, thats the only thing I still use from other companies.
Well I am a Mac girl myself - and they will do a makeup for you for free if you purchase a product... You have to book in though. I am glad you are doing this for yourself - you will feel like a princess and that's what you deserve...
I have a love for Mac products and their lipsticks are worth the effort as they I find I don't eat them off quite as quickly as most. Also the Loreal 6hr lipglosses actually hold fast and they're not super sticky or bad tasting like some.
I always use a waterproof mascara - often Maybelline - because it doesn't smudge down my face in 5 minutes lol.
And the best trick I have recently discovered is using the right brushes!!! If you can find Jane Iredale mineral products they have a cream to powder eyeliner that is foolproof ( if I can use it, this is no exaggeration) and with a little brush, you can instantly achieve a better look with no real effort, bit of mascara and even a tinted moisturiser ... lippy and you will feel like a princess...
Oh Natio mineral powder is lovely too ( and I believe excellent for sensitive skin ).
I have pale and freckly skin too. I've had a couple of trials with make up and I love a good mineral coverage as its so subtle and just evens any redness etc which I also get in my cheeks.
