some beauticians will not wax pregnant women. I have been given various reasons for this, from expended blood vessels in pregnancy making it more painful, to a fear of the pain starting labour. Others will do it no problems. You may have to shop around once you start showing.

For the record, even when 40 weeks pregnant a brazillian did not send my pal into labour.

I have DH's old electric razor. I trim everything very short, then shave to g-string shape. Suits me/us just fine .

I had laser about 3-4 times but it was so exxy I couldn't afford to keep it up. It definately thinned things out. I had brazilian and underarms. It cost $285 per session, plus I'd spend $75 every 2 sessions for topical anesthetic (sp). It hurt even with that on, but took about 5 minutes. I had it done in a medical laser clinic with a doctor doing it.

I wish I could go back and get it done more to reduce things further, but can't afford it.

btw - topical anesthetic on the lady bits is so weird.

Ok so while we're all being personal, I have a couple of little moles down there which I shave around (PITA) how do moles go with waxing? One is flat and one is raised. I've always wanted to get waxed but I'm scared of the pain!! And the mole thing worries me.
I tried Veet and Nair but both burnt me OUCH! Does sensitive skin come into play with waxing too?

Last summer I did 3 sessions of laser (all off) but didn't keep it up during winter as it's so exxy, so just shaved every now and then. Am going to start the laser again in a few weeks but not looking forward to the pain!!! Like tashybabe said, it hurts even with the emla numbing cream. Very effective though, has really thinned it all out and doesn't grow back for a while. I think I'll need another 3 or 4 sessions, hopefully that's it. Money well spent in the end though!

I get an extended brazillian (the whole way both ways), I will have to find a new waxer once I move (heck I need to find a new waxer the next time I get it done - mine was useless - my regular one has moved on & they won't tell me where she's gone). So I agree, go with word of mouth.

I don't have a lot of hair, meaning it doesn't grow long (maybe an inch long tops) & doesn't stick out of my panty line, but I don't have a lot of body hair anyway (except for on my head and that is a whole other thread!)

ok, preface - I'm light on the pubic hair, as in shaving legs and underarms once every week or two does it for me ... and down yonder keeps itself pretty tidy with minimal maintenance required.

so I let it go wild. maybe the occasional streak/bun/plait/ribbon ... or not.

nah, I tidy up any strays (get out of my bum crack, evil rogue pube!) but leave the main moster be.

DH doesn't like it missing ... he says his love stick gets cold ... and he thinks it looks like a little girl, which he doesn't like ...

also, I find it mega itchy when it's growing back!

but lots of my friends wax (particularly the ones who are more on the wolverine side of the fence, and have bikini line which encroaches over to the tops of their thighs, all up the butt, etc) and they tend to favour the "landing stip" or total brazillian, from what I understand.

If you are considering Laser, make sure you go to a reputable place.
When I went to have my assessment done on my hair to see if it would work, the beautician explained she wouldn't do it on me as my skin/pigment and hair color (reddish) combination would not get the result I wanted.

She was happy to happy to wax me all through my pregnancy, I also have a cyst right in my bikini line and she has been wonderful working around/with it. I had an extended done about a week before my due date..no luck on getting me started, I went 10days over

It is true, the more you wax, the less course the hair and the amount of hair that grows back.

So, the trick is to find someone you can trust. Ask friends, that is how I got onto the place I go to.

ive always shaved but when pregnant i get too sensitive and normally get it waxed, about 6 weeks sounds good. My lady is great but i get a bikini wax, so i still have a bit of coverage but only where you want some.....couldnt cope with a total wax!

I'm another shaver here I take it all off, right down to the 'inside' bits, I can't stand the scratchy feel of hair in my knickers but I have been known to get a bit slack between shaves... I'm trying to work out whether regular waxes can be fit into our family budget (the small amount of money I get for myself goes on the kids and household things so DH would probably end up paying for it!), I'd much prefer to get it all off and have it STAY off for at least a couple of weeks! I'm a bit iffy about having it all hang out in front of a stranger but I guess as someone else said, they wouldn't even notice as they do it all day long lol, my vajayjay surely isn't *that* memorable!

I'm an avid cream user, I take it all off, used to just shave because it was quick and easy but now that I can't see my hoohaa it's cream all the way! I've never had any probs with sensitivity etc, and I like the final product, smooth etc, lasts longer than shaving.

Another shaver here. Been doing it for 8 years, since I was at Uni and couldn't afford the alternatives. All shaved off - I tried leaving a landing strip once and it just annoyed me.

I only get itchy about after 10 days. Being 40 weeks pregnant and not being able to see my foofie did mean I was a little itchy, but even then I managed to keep it reasonably tidy. AFTER the birth I didn't want to touch it at all so it got a bit "garden" like for a few weeks. I think it's probably softened and thinned-out a lot over time hence the lack of itchiness.

One day I'll go for a waxxing, but right now I'm happy with the shaving. DH aint complaining either.

Thanks for all the replies chicks! Wow laser wasnt something I had even considered! Was talking to DH about it and seeing as we both prefer waxing I'm going to make time to go regularly! Yay now just to find a place around here seeing as my friends all do it themselves!

Im a brazillian girl. I HATE shaving, its itchy and it doesnt last.

I get my eyebrows, underarms and brazillian done every 5 weeks.

Others are right - laser only works really well if you have thick, dark hair and fair skin (like me). I was a perfect candidate - bikini took 4 treatments - I have a high pain threshold so I didn't need cream and the machine was on its highest setting for each treatment, so it worked quicker for me. FWIW I went to Australian Laser Clinic (they have branches everywhere).

I used to go to Brazilian butterfly in Knox (opposite Knox s/centre) - only changed because i found a waxer closer to home instead of having to drive the 1/2 hr to Knox - They were awesome there
